🧣 🍂🌡Although it may be getting colder, the Celtfest board is already looking ahead to next summer and seeing whether Almonte Celtfest will be able to continue on as the weekend festival we all love, or whether it will need to change shape.

It all depends on enough people stepping up to help out with planning.

Despite 2026 being successful on all fronts and with a healthy financial base to budget for 2027, some board members have decided that it’s time to step away. At this moment, we do not have enough people remaining on the board and organizing committee to plan an entire festival.

📣 Almonte Celtfest is looking a new Site Coordinator. As an outdoor festival that must be safe and accessible and which includes space for vendors and community organizations, the site coordinator is very important to the festival’s viability and success.

Key responsibilities include:
🟢 Coordinating the layout and logistics for the festival site
🟢 Coordinating with the vendor coordinator to determine the layout of the vendors area
🟢 Booking porta-potties, fencing and other rental equipment for the site
🟢 Considers safety and bylaws when creating a site plan
🟢 Works closely with the town of Mississippi Mills and other site partners

🔵 Manage all incoming and outgoing financial transactions for the festival

🔵 Keep all finances up to date and available to the rest of the board
🔵 Report on finances at each monthly board meeting

Beginning at the Mississippi Valley Textile Museum, we’ll follow the paths of those who came before us — through Almonte’s history, along the river, and into stories of fire, tragedy, mystery and restless spirits.

Some will tell their stories.

🪶 Today we mark National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. We remember the Indigenous children who were sent to residential schools and never returned and we honour the survivors, their families and communities.

🛶 It’s also a day to reflect on what reconciliation means for each of us as individuals and as a community and to ask what we can contribute to the ongoing journey to truth and reconciliation.

🕯We invite you to join us in commemorating the day at events in Almonte listed below.

A reminder that our 2026 AGM is less than a week away!

Thank you for celebrating Celtfest 30 with us! We are appreciative of every volunteer, sponsor, vendor, and community supporter that make this festival happen and cannot thank you enough. This festival is fueled by volunteers and community support and we could not do it without you.

As we move out of a successful anniversary year and into the 31st edition, Celtfest finds itself without enough volunteer Board Members to continue into 2027. Despite 2026 being successful on all fronts and with good financial standing and a healthy base for 2027 planning and budgeting, the festival is only possible with enough people to plan it. The current board has served for upwards of 10 years and it is time for some of them to move on to other things.
Unfortunately, there are not enough people remaining to plan an entire festival.

We are asking anyone in or outside our community that wants to get involved or wants to learn more to reach out before or at our AGM on September 29th. If we do not have enough people step forward, the festival will not be able to continue into its 31st year. It doesn't have to be a big commitment, there are roles that range in time and effort, and there is something for everyone at Celtfest. Chat with one of the current or outgoing members to get an idea of what is available, what vacancies need filling, and how your skills/experience can contribute to the festival. Many hands make light work! The more people that step up, the less work it will be for everyone overall.
