Good morning everyone,

Today, the 15th of August 2020 should have been an optimistic day as the airport was supposed to reopen. We fought as much as possible to resist to these 5 passed months with almost no income. But finally this essential reopenning won’t happen before an uncertain date. 😤

That’s why it’s with a broken heart in millions of pieces that I have to announced that the Covid-19 situation has officially killed Love For Good Tastes in Caye Caulker.😭

We will move to Cayo where family can welcome us and we will keep you update if anything good comes out of this nightmare.
But until there, take care of each others and stay safe ❤️

HI everyone,

I would like to discuss with you about an idea I had and see if some of you could be interested.
A name for that project immediately came to my mind : FOOD FREEDOM WORKSHOPS 🤩

Even if our incomes have disappeared, we all still need to eat, it’s just essential.

A friend has suggested me some daily food ideas to reach more clients and I refused all of them always for the same reason : how could I sell these when they are so easy to make and I could teach how to cook them in less than an hour 1h to anybody ?

I don’t want any misunderstanding here : i’m not judging what the others purpose or buy, every one does what and how she/he likes, it’s just not what I wanted to offer. But the reason of my disinterest for these simple recipes was the whole point : to teach how to cook a cheap but tasty meal gives people food autonomy not just a meal ! You’ll know how to do it yourself after in plus of having eating it 😉

So my message is to every person who spends most of her/his food budget by buying meals instead of ingredients…. And don’t believe my message is addressed only to the girls or the women, you, guys, single or not, are concerned too, because which woman doesn’t enjoy that her man cooks for her sometimes ?? And believe me it will bring you some high attractive points in a seduction process ;-) Even your boys would enjoy that you can cook for your between bowls party 😁

My idea is not to transform you in a Chef or to make you cook every day every meal, it’s more about the circumstances that everyone is passing throw right now : Covid crisis, no tourist, no job, no money but time ! And apparently we are far away to be over it :-(
So in this rough times you could save a lot of money by just spending a bit of time with a pot in your hand.
And if saving money is not your main concern (blessed you), you could simply be interested by having more diversity in your daily food choices.
I know that not everybody has a well-equipped kitchen but there is always something you can prepare with the minimum you have.
I know also some of you just never get inspired by what happens in a kitchen and find it so easy to go to pick-up something but I assure you that when you realize that instead of buying 1 meal for 10 or 15 bz you could have 2, 4, 6, 8 meals for the same money you think twice about the lack of attraction of the kitchen ! Kitchen becomes sexy and you may trade a few of your pick-up by some homemade cooking 😁

This idea is a work in progress, but I can already imagine some topics for the workshops as « Cook 1 meal for 4 persons for 10 bz » « I just have 30 min » « I know nothing and have no idea by what to begin » « I just have a bbq to cook » « A quick & cheap but healthy lunch box for my kid » « Belizean cooking for beginners » « morning eggs all-ways » « cook my 1st lobster » - not cheap but cheaper than to go in a restaurant to eat one - « cook my 2nd lobster (harder of course 🤣) » « affordable vegan meal » « easy pastry » « My lover’s birthday dinner » « magic leftovers » …
But your suggestions, your challenges, your special wishes (if there is something you would like to learn) would be very appreciated and are encouraged.

In plus of the cooking workshops, some "how to homegrown your food » workshops could also be organized. Despite what people generally think on the island, some plants grow well here and give you the opportunity to eat directly from your garden to your plate 😍 We have begin to develop the garden here and I would be more than happy to share what we have learn to help you to begin your own even if you don’t have any outdoor garden 😊

The price of the workshop would depend of the topics and would be adjusted as low as possible depending of the time of the workshop, the maximum number of persons who can be accepted for it (according of the space necessary in the total respect of the health requirements of course) and the costs of the used ingredient. You will always go back home with a portion of it of course ;-)

The possible topics could be submitted to your vote to be sure to organize your favorite ones and the frequency of them (weekly, monthly) will also depends of your interest 😃
Some private workshops could also be organized and be adjusted to the needs of your family with the objective to reduce your food budget in the real conditions : your own kitchen and with what you have to work with.

So thank you to let me know if these FOOD FREEDOM WORKSHOPS (cooking/gardening) can interest you by writing a comment or sending me a PM with the challenges which hold you back to start cooking or gardening and we will work to jump over them !

Of course this message is in priority for the Caye Caulker residents but if you are living somewhere else in Belize or even farer, let me know if you are interested too and I will figure out how to reach you when everything would have really begun (workshop video or tutorial….).

Located in front of the Village Council, just after Island Magic Hotel when you come from the Split. We purpose YUMMY BREAKFAST with morning sandwiches, Belgian waffles, benedictine eggs, French croissants, quiches, omelettes, fresh smoothies, juices & Moringa specialties.
