Milton Hershey failed twice before building his chocolate empire. His first two candy businesses went bankrupt, leaving him broke and hopeless at 30. But he didn’t give up. By 1900, he created the Hershey Chocolate Company, becoming one of America’s richest men. He built an entire town for his workers and lived a happy life with his wife, Kitty. But they couldn’t have children—the one thing they truly wanted.
In 1909, Milton and Kitty decided to turn their pain into purpose. They founded the Hershey Industrial School for orphaned boys—giving them homes, food, education, and love. Kitty treated every boy like her own child. After her death in 1915, Milton continued their dream. In 1918, he shocked everyone by donating almost all his wealth—his whole company—to a trust that would fund the school forever.
Today, the Milton Hershey School still runs on that same vision. It provides free education, housing, meals, and care for thousands of children from poor families. The Hershey Trust now holds over $17 billion, helping kids build better lives every single day. Milton Hershey had no children of his own—but his love created thousands of futures. His true legacy isn’t chocolate—it’s kindness that never melts. 🍫✨
