Today we're thinking about Sir Randol Fawkes, and not just because Bahamian Labour Day is named after him.

You see, in our kitchen where everyone gathers, there are some pages taped up on the wall. They remind us of the values that Chives lives by:

Everyone gets hungry and thirsty.
Everyone wants to be seen.
Everyone needs to belong.
We want to be respected and welcomed.
Every day invites curiosity and creativity.
Everyone needs a place to withdraw and be refreshed.

Places like ours exist when people meet on common ground to celebrate the privilege of life, and cultivate everyday joys, like a good meal.

We live in the shade of a large and lovely tree, with roots driven in the ground by Sir Randol and the generation he led, with seeds we get to gather and cultivate.
