“A Bowl of Peace From Bahrain 🕊️🇧🇭 to the World.”🍵

The second version , continuing my exploration of tea as a quiet language of peace and cultural connection will be held in Hawaii

Highlighting Bahrain as “The Pearl of the Gulf.” I will be serving this wagashi art, Inspired by Bahrain’s deep pearling history, it carries this heritage through flavor and form, shared across cultures. ✨ 🌎

As a wagashi artist working through the practice of tea, I hope to express stories that connect places, people, and traditions. 🙇🏻‍♀️

This wagashi design incorporates rose and cardamom, evoking the aromatic flavors of Bahrain , while bringing those notes into a shared space of tea. 🍵 Through this work, I hope to offer a small moment of harmony, carried from Bahrain to the world. 🕊️

For this year’s Eid al-Adha , I wanted to honor Bahrain’s beautiful cultural heritage through the delicate Japanese art of wagashi. 🪴 🐑 🍵✨

Inspired by the Bahraini tradition of “Haya Beya,” I created a basket shaped nerikiri flavored with hōjicha and matcha 🍵, blending the warm roasted aroma of tea with the fresh green notes of Japanese tea culture.

The woven basket design reflects a beloved Bahraini tradition connected to celebration, generosity, and memories passed through generations dating back to the Dilmun civilization. ✨

I also created the seasonal sheep shaped wagashi, 🕋 🐑 for Eid al-Adha, flavored with fragrant cardamom, a spice deeply rooted in Bahraini cuisine and often associated with gatherings, and celebratory meals during Eid. The sheep symbolizes sacrifice, gratitude, and sharing values at the heart of the celebration.

To connect the sweets to the Japanese summer season, I added a bamboo leaf inspired by the lush greenery found throughout Japan during this time of year. 🍃

Through wagashi, Bahrain and Japan meet through craftsmanship, seasonality, and hospitality 🇧🇭 🇯🇵

As a tea master and the Goodwill Ambassador for Japanese Cuisine, I hope to continue creating bridges between Bahrain and Japan through tea, wagashi, and cultural exchange. 🇧🇭🇯🇵✨

May 21st — International Tea Day 🍃

Today, I reflect with deep gratitude on the journey tea has given me.✨🍃
Tea is not simply a drink 🍵it is culture, history, devotion, craftsmanship, and human connection carried through a single bowl.🍵🌱✨

My respect and appreciation go especially to the Japanese tea farmers and artisans whose quiet dedication preserves this beautiful tradition through generations. From the early mornings in the tea fields to the careful hands that cultivate, harvest, process, and prepare each leaf 🍃✨every cup carries their hard work, spirit, and sincerity.

Studying tea has taught me patience, humility, mindfulness, and peace. It has connected me with extraordinary people and opened my heart to traditions that continue to inspire me every day.

On this International Tea Day, I offer my heartfelt gratitude to all tea farmers, tea masters, artisans, and everyone who keeps the spirit of tea alive. 🍵✨

Every spring, I find myself returning to the tea fields of Japan. 🌿🍵

Walking through rows of vibrant green leaves, breathing in the fresh mountain air, and listening to the stories of the farmers who dedicate their lives to tea.🍵 ☁️ 🌱

For me, sourcing organic tea is not only about taste.
It is about philosophy, craftsmanship, and preserving a deep connection to nature.✨🍵🌱🌱

I spend time speaking with farmers, learning their cultivation methods, and understanding the spirit behind each harvest.

Supporting organic tea farmers means supporting a slower, more mindful way of living , one rooted in harmony with the seasons and the land.🌱 ☀️

As a tea master, the teas I select become part of my own aesthetic as a chajin. Each tea carries emotion, memory, and a sense of place.🍃

Spring harvest season reminds me that tea is alive , shaped by the soil, the weather, and the hands of the farmers that nurture it. 🌱✨ 🧑‍🌾

For the ( Bowl of Peace — from Bahrain to the World) tea gathering, I created these Nerikiri wagashi (sweets) as a reflection of Bahrain beauty 🇧🇭 , known as the “Pearl of the Gulf.”

Bahrain carries a beautiful and rich history with pearls, once treasured across the world for their rarity, beauty, and the patience it takes to form them.✨🇧🇭

Surrounded by clear, shimmering waters, Bahrain’s sea has long been the source of these natural treasures. 🌊

The soft blue tones of this wagashi reflect that gentle ocean calm, luminous, and full of life.✨🇧🇭 🏝️
This original design expresses how precious bahrain is , like a pearl, shaped over time with care and resilience.

The touch of gold on the design honors Bahrain’s long tradition of fine gold craftsmanship.✨✨✨🇧🇭

Through tea and sweets, I hoped to share a feeling beyond words. A connection between cultures, 🇧🇭✨ japan 🇯🇵 and a small expression of peace. 🕊️

Sadō - teaches us that peace begins in small moments, in stillness, mutual respect, and shared presence.

This gathering in Japan was inspired by the idea that tea can become a quiet bridge between cultures. Through carefully chosen utensils, handmade sweets, incense from Bahrain, and the spirit of harmony within the tea room, I hoped to share a feeling of connection beyond borders. Simply through human connection.

A Bowl of Peace — from 🇧🇭 to the World 🍵✨

Sadō is more than the preparation of tea 🍵 it is a practice of harmony, respect, and presence. Within the tearoom, people meet without hierarchy or division, sharing a quiet moment of connection. And tea becomes an unspoken a language of peace.🕊️

I hosted a tea gathering for peace in Japan, following in the footsteps of the Grand Tea Master Sen Sōsh*tsu XVI. Through carefully chosen utensils, I hoped to highlight the importance of peace and share the beauty of our little island. 🏝️

- The main chawan was an Asahi-yaki tea bowl gifted by the 16th Hosai, carrying the poetic name *Nagomi 和みcalmness and harmony. 🍵🇧🇭🕊️

- A second bowl, *Silk Road*, symbolized cultural exchange through ancient journeys and shared histories 🐪 🕌 .

- The mizusashi, decorated with waves, 🌊 represented Bahrain and Japan as two island nations connected by water.

- Handmade nerikri, (Pearl of the Gulf 中東の真珠), and higashi sweets , sakura shaped but carried flavors of rose and cardamom, sharing scents and memories of Bahrain 🇧🇭 .

- For incense, I shared oud from Bahrain, placed within a woven palm container in red and white 🇧🇭 🇯🇵 reflecting both countries.

Every object held intention. Every gesture carried meaning.✨

A small gathering, hoping to express that peace can begin with a single bowl, a shared silence, and a sincere encounter. 🙇🏻‍♀️🥹🍵

Walking through the tea fields in in Nishio, where our organic Kanbashi matcha comes from, is a quiet reminder of how much passion, care, and dedication lives in every cup of tea produced. 🌱✨

Hand picking tea with the farmers each year, brings a deeper understanding that tea is never just a product, it is a craft shaped by patience, tradition, and generations of knowledge.🙇🏻‍♀️🌱🥹

Supporting farmers, even in this small way, allows us to witness their hard work more closely and to feel more connected to the land and the people behind it.

When we slow down and witness the process, we learn to appreciate every sip more fully. 🍃🍵

🌸Sakura season expressed through wagashi , a fleeting story of beauty, change, and reflection.

This year I created two seasonal designs inspired by the beauty of sakura.

🌸 Mankai 満開 “full bloom”
capturing the peak of cherry blossoms in their most radiant moment, delicately which I flavored with rose for floral notes.

🌸 Hanaikada 花筏　“flower raft”
inspired by fallen petals drifting along the river, reflecting the quiet beauty of sakura’s season ending, flavored with warm , nutty kinako aroma.

In sadō (the tea ceremony) wagashi are more than just sweets. They are a poetic expressions of the season, inviting us to pause and appreciate nature’s passing moments.

Each sweet tells a story from bloom to farewell, reminding us of the delicate impermanence that makes spring so meaningful.
