🌾 4:15 PM — Harvest Moon–Inspired Ikebana Demonstration
A special ikebana demonstration by certified Ohara Ikebana practitioner Karima Haji, inspired by the beauty of the autumn harvest moon.

🐇 5:00–6:00 PM — Usagi Origami Workshop
Create your own little moon-viewing rabbit and learn about the symbolism of the usagi in Tsukimi traditions.

🌕 6:15 PM — Tsukimi Storytelling
Discover the history, meaning, and traditions behind お月見, and why the autumn moon has been celebrated in Japan for centuries.

🍵 6:30 PM — Japanese Tea Ceremony
Experience Chadō, the Way of Tea, with a Urasenke-certified tea instructor. Enjoy freshly prepared matcha accompanied by a specially selected seasonal wagashi.

🖌️ 7:00–8:00 PM — Shodō Calligraphy Station
Try your hand at Japanese calligraphy with shodō enthusiast Rie Nonaka, and learn how to write 「月見」Tsukimi.

Darseen Café will also offer special food available for purchase throughout the evening, including Tsukimi Yakisoba, inspired by the moon-viewing tradition.

✨ If weather permits, the tea ceremony will take place outdoors beneath the autumn sky, allowing us to experience the spirit of Tsukimi as it was traditionally intended, with the moon and seasonal sky as part of the tearoom itself.

🌼🍂 金木犀の露 — Kinmokusei no Tsuyu
Dew of Kinmokusei flowers

This wagashi is inspired by one of my favorite signs of autumn in Japan: the blooming of kinmokusei 金木犀, the fragrant osmanthus. 🧡

Every September, tiny golden flowers begin to bloom across Japan, filling the air with their delicate, unmistakable floral fragrance. Their bloom is fleeting, making kinmokusei a beautiful reminder of the transient nature of the seasons. 🇯🇵 🍂

For this wagashi, I wanted to capture not only the appearance of the flower, but the feeling of autumn itself.

The translucent mizu yokan creates a quiet, almost glass like landscape, with delicate golden kinmokusei blossoms suspended within it. The soft green fading into golden tones reflects the transition of the season, while the flowers appear almost as though they have been caught in a moment of morning dew. 🍃 🧡

This is why I named it 金木犀の露 — Kinmokusei no Tsuyu (Dew of Kinmokusei.) 💧

A birthday spent where it all began. 🍵🌿

Today, I celebrated another year of life in the tea room , surrounded by my team, the quiet beauty of our space, and the practice that began a journey I could never have imagined.🍵🫶🏻

One of the things I love most about Sadō is how even the smallest details can carry meaning.

Before the first bowl is prepared, there is so much to consider. Choosing the scroll and what it expresses, arranging the flowers in the tokonoma, selecting the chawan and utensils, and bringing together each seasonal element with intention. ✨

Nothing is chosen simply for decoration. Each piece becomes part of the story of the day, creating a small world that reflects the season, the occasion, and the people sharing that moment together. 🥹🍵

There is something especially meaningful about preparing a bowl of matcha on your birthday. The gentle rhythm of whisking, the warmth of the bowl in your hands, the fragrance of the tea, and that first quiet sip. For a moment, everything slows down… 😌

Sadō has taught me that peace doesn’t always come from stepping away from life. Sometimes, it comes from learning how to be fully present within it.

What started as a practice became a path, then a passion, and eventually a tea room, where I have the privilege of sharing that feeling of calm and connection with others. 🤍

This year, I’m especially grateful to celebrate surrounded by the team, who helps bring this little space to life, and in the beautiful tearoom that has become such an important part of my journey.

Here’s to another year of learning, sharing, and creating moments of peace , one bowl at a time. 🤍

This wagashi was created as a reflection of the clear blue summer sky , and a wish of a shooting star 💫
reflecting the beauty of a passing shooting star, a symbol of wishes, hope, and fleeting moments to be cherished.

Gently flavored with the roasted flavor of Kinako and the cooling aroma of rose. ✨
