For months, we kept getting the same question—“Do you have decaf?”—so much so that we finally decided to take a serious look at it. To be honest, decaf wasn’t really on our radar before, but once we started digging in, tasting different options, and learning more, we realized it’s not easy to find a great one. A lot of roasters don’t even bother, and when they do, it often feels like an afterthought rather than a proper part of the lineup.
As with everything at Kami, we didn’t just want to tick a box—we wanted to do it right. After a lot of searching (and a lot of cups ☕), we landed on something special: a Brazil Datera Natural from our mates at Friedhats. They’ve got a serious focus on decaf and low-caf coffees, and they never fail to impress.
We picked this Laurina as it is a naturally low-caffeine varietal (about 0.3–0.5% caffeine, compared to 0.1–0.3% for decaf and ~1.2–1.5% for regular Arabica). Unlike traditional decaf, which goes through chemical or water-based processing (Swiss Water, CO₂, ethyl acetate, etc.), this one doesn’t need any of that. And that means the flavor, aroma, and texture stay intact— no compromises. On top of that, skipping the extra processing makes this a more sustainable and ethical option—no excessive water or energy needed, just naturally delicious coffee 🌱.
So yeah, we’re finally serving decaf. And not just any decaf—one that actually tastes good. If you’re keen to give it a go, swing by. And the best part? No surcharge 😉
