Lieve gasten,
25 jaar geleden in augustus… en toch lijkt het alsof we gisteren pas onze deuren openden. Vol goeie moed, misschien zelfs een beetje overmoedig en een tikkeltje naïef, maar vooral heel gedreven en met veel goesting, zijn we gestart aan het avontuur dat 'Passade' heet.
Mechelen was toen een stad waar niet veel te beleven viel, en Passade vulde die leegte op. Al snel vonden veel mensen de weg naar ons, zowel in de stad als daarbuiten. En keer op keer kwamen ze terug.
De stad is ondertussen helemaal veranderd en geëvolueerd. De binnenstad en de rand zijn volledig heraangelegd en verbouwd. Ook de werken aan de tangent en de fietsostrade duurden jaren. De laatste fase van de aansluiting bleek echter een probleem te zijn. Er werd gezocht naar alternatieven, maar de aanleg was simpelweg niet mogelijk op deze plek.
Daarom besloot de provincie om over te gaan tot onteigening en zal het gebouw deels worden afgebroken om de laatste fase te kunnen realiseren.
Met pijn in ons hart moeten we jullie dan ook informeren dat Passade op 31 augustus 2025 voorgoed zijn deuren sluit.
We willen al onze medewerkers bedanken, te veel om op te noemen, die in de loop der jaren ons team hebben versterkt, of het nu voor korte of langere tijd was. Zonder jullie inzet en harde werk hadden we onze droom nooit kunnen waarmaken.
En natuurlijk een dikke merci aan al onze klanten voor hun trouw. Sommigen van jullie zijn er van het begin bij! Sommigen zagen we bijna dagelijks, andere wekelijks of maandelijks.
We hopen dat jullie fijne herinneringen aan ons meenemen en we hopen jullie allemaal nog een keer te mogen verwelkomen vóór 30 augustus. Tot dan blijven we er alleszins helemaal voor gaan!

25 years ago in August… and yet it feels like we just opened our doors yesterday. Full of good intentions, maybe even a little overconfident and a touch naive, but most of all driven and excited, we embarked on the adventure that is 'Passade.'
Back then, Mechelen was a city where not much was happening, and Passade filled that void. Before long, many people found their way to us, both in the city and beyond. And time and again, they kept coming back.
The city has since completely changed and evolved. Both the city center and the outskirts have been completely redeveloped and renovated. The works on the tangent and the bike highway also took many years. However, the final phase of the bike highway connection turned out to be problematic. Alternatives were explored, but the construction was simply not feasible in this location.
That’s why the province decided to proceed with expropriation, and the building will be partially demolished to make room for the completion of this final phase.
With heavy hearts, we must inform you that Passade will close its doors for good on August 31, 2025.
We would like to thank all our staff, too many to name, who have strengthened our team over the years, whether for a short or long time. Without your dedication and hard work, we would never have been able to make our dream come true.
And of course, a big thank you to all our customers for their loyalty. Some of you have been with us from the very beginning! Some we saw almost daily, others weekly or monthly.
We hope you will take wonderful memories of us with you and we hope to welcome all of you once more before August 30th. Until then, we will continue to give it our all!
