CREAM CHEESE + STRAWBERRY
This new flavour brings out a particular nostalgic feeling for me.
I have talked a lot about my (hungarian) grandmother since the opening of Róka, and I will do some more of that now. As kids, all of my cousins, my sister and me used to gather at our grandmother’s place every wednesday afternoon. We would eat and play until our mother came to pick us up after work to go home.
In summer, when we were playing outside in the garden, our grandmother put some fresh strawberries, cream cheese and some sugar in a blender and serve it to us as a sweet treat. We jokingly called it “Plakkekaas met aardbeien”.
While making strawberry sorbet last week, the smell of the crushed strawberries instantly sent me back to my grandmother’s garden and I knew I had to make this into gelato.
This flavour will probably be available for quite a while!
