La biere de Vincent double (6.5%) created by De Geneughten (the Netherlands).
Got a very nice gift box consisting of different b**rs with Vincent van Gogh on the label. Of course he isn’t around to make b**rs 😉 and it’s a mystery who did make this one. It is a very good dubbel b**r though! It has a layered maltiness with several malty flavours to discover as well as notes of licorice and spices. I was actually surprised it was only 6.5% as it comes across as a much stronger b**r. Nice!

Paranoia hazy hoppy hippo b**r (0.3%) brewed by Brouwerij Huyge in Melle (Belgium).
This hazy alcohol-free b**r is made with three different grains and has been dry hopped during the cold lagering with Mosaic and Citra hops. The b**r is pleasant and refreshing to drink, has a good bitterness and nice fruity hop notes.

This weekend it was the Brussels Heritage Days. Many events, walks and visits were organised in this years theme: Our landscape, our legacy. 
My amazing colleague Helene from Hoppyz and I did several group walks in downtown Brussels around the rich heritage of b**r, hosted by Once in Brussels. We put b**r in the spotlight as both Belgian and Brussels heritage. During our walks traces of the city’s brewing past and present appeared at every turn. Industrial buildings, street names, cafés, meeting places and hotels. It was really nice to show our groups all these places linked to our Unesco recognised Belgian B**r Culture.

Puff wheat b**r (4.5%) brewed by Brasserie Illegaal in Brussels.

Refreshing, grainy and easy drinking with a slight tartness in the aftertaste. Perfect for an unexpectedly hot day like today.

Biere de Coupage (6.2%) brewed by Brasserie de la Senne in Brussels.

This special b**r was created for the Cantillon in 2025. A Coupage b**r is a blend of a young ale and a sour b**r, in this case a 2 year old lambic. I tasted it last year during the event and tasted it again now that it has aged a while. Quite a nice evolution! The acidity is mild and well rounded and matches well with the complex vinous body. Yum 👍 (I definitely should have bought more ..)

De Heritage Days komen er weer aan in Brussel! Dit jaar kun je een bierwandeling maken op zaterdag 19 en zondag 20 september.

Once in Brussels zet bier in de kijker als Belgisch én Brussels erfgoed. Tijdens deze wandeling door het historische centrum duiken overal sporen op van het brouwverleden en -heden van de stad. Industriegebouwen, straatnamen, cafés, vergaderplekken en hotels openen het verhaal van de biercultuur: van brouwers en hun groeiende imperia tot consumenten en hun gewoonten. De wandeling is tegelijk een toegankelijke kennismaking en een verdieping, voor liefhebbers van hop én voor wie geboeid is door geschiedenis.
