Happy Ethiopian Easter (Fasika)! 🐓🥳
መልካም ፋሲካ! 💚💛❤
Doro wot (pictured above) is a spicy 🌶 chicken stew 🍗 that is frequently prepared during holidays - like today - Fasika! 🎊
It is also Ethiopia's national dish. 🇪🇹
It is comprised of chicken simmered in caramelized onions 🧅 and flavoured with a robust spice blend called Berberé.

Typically eaten with 'Kocho' - a thick flatbread made from chopped and grated enset/ false banana root pulp - in traditional Gurage cuisine.

*Buhe is a celebration 🎊 of the Transfiguration of Jesus on Mount Tabor ⛰ in the presence of the three lead apostles. It is widely celebrated throughout Ethiopia🇪🇹 on the 19th of August. 🗓
For weeks in August, Ethiopian boys dress up and perform songs from door to door in neighbourhoods across the country. In return, the boys get ‘Mulmul’. 🥖
Buhe also marks the last days of the rainy season. 🌦🌞
Buhe is also chatacterized by the bonfire that is lit in homes but also in neighbourhoods and churches. 🔥
