"First time in Jackson Heights & first time trying Bangladeshi food. It was amazing and heart-warming (more like super spicy) comfort food [halim stew, goat curry, braised goat over biryani, curry fish over biryani] This half diner/grocery shop was definitely a local favorite. There was no menu; we just had to order what we want from what we see at the buffet counter. Shout-out to the kind waiter who didn't know much English but was very patient with us in explaining what each dish was and what he personally recommended. Visiting this neighborhood and simply just eating here for some late night food made me feel like I was in a different community, a different country. Definitely reminded me of those late nights at hawker stands in Singapore. And that is why I love my city so much: each train stop you take, you can find yourself escaping to a whole new culture that has settled into the hearts of New York City while keeping their unique traditions."
