What does CPA mean in digital marketing?
In digital marketing, CPA stands for Cost Per Action (sometimes also called Cost Per Acquisition).
👉 It’s a pricing model where an advertiser pays only when a specific action is completed.
That action could be:
A sale (purchase made)
A lead (form submission, signup, email subscription)
An app install
A free trial signup
Any other desired conversion
✅ Example:
If an advertiser sets a CPA of $10 per lead, they only pay the publisher/affiliate $10 each time a user fills out the signup form.
No payment is made for just impressions (views) or clicks — only for the actual action.
🔑 Why it’s important:
It’s performance-based (advertisers only pay for results).
It helps manage ROI (Return on Investment) better compared to CPC (Cost Per Click) or CPM (Cost Per Mille/1,000 impressions).
