A lunch stop lead us into a back carpark in Nowra.
Authentic Chinese in the most unassuming place had us full and happy.
If we lived any closer we would definitely be regulars.

Yesterday, we drove down into the base of the Blue Mountains to visit the historic and what a location for a cafe. The vibe was so calm even though they were quite busy. We had a beautiful light lunch and their famous scones with blackberry jam and cream. Even picked up some fresh produce from their market gate stall. No wonder so many people recommended us to visit. Very special.

🌅THAT'S A WRAP🌅

After the dust has settled on what has been an absolute whirlwind of a week, we would just like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has been a part of this Karrikin journey so far. From all our customers, staff, producers, tradesmen, designers, artisans, and too many others to mention, you have all been integral in shaping Karrikin thus far.
We are now so excited to be handing over the keys to and can't wait to watch them create their own magic with the space.
In the meantime, Clare and I will be touring this beautiful country with our family in our pop top caravan. If you would like to follow along on our adventures, we will try to post about different food regions, farmers markets, and some coastal cooking along the way to stay engaged with the audience that means so much to us.
So for now, this isn't goodbye, but so long.
If you would like us to go somewhere or meet us along the road, reach out.
Lots of love, Zac & Clare. Xx

NGAARU

NGAARU is the collaborative project of two proud Yaegl men and first cousins who grew up together on Clarence Valley, NSW, and now create from Yugambeh country (Gold Coast). Deeply rooted in their Indigenous heritage, NGAARU is a powerful expression of culture, connection, and creativity.

The name NGAARU comes from the Yaygirr language and translates to “a body of water” — a fitting metaphor for their artistic flow and cultural grounding. Their music blends traditional Indigenous instrumentation and storytelling with old-school and modern electronic dance influences, creating a soundscape that is both timeless and forward-looking.

With over 60,000 years of culture flowing through their veins, NGAARU draws on the strength, resilience, and beauty of their ancestors. Their art weaves together music, dance, and narrative — vibrant threads passed down through generations. Each track is a celebration of identity, a reflection of lived experience, and a connection to the earth, ocean, and spirit.

Through joy, pain, and everything in between, NGAARU moves through life like water — fluid, grounded, and always in motion. With their roots deep and eyes on the horizon, they are ecstatic to share their journey, and to invite listeners into a world rich with culture, purpose, and sonic exploration.

Follow NGAARU as they break new ground and honour ancient pathways, guided always by the voices of their people.

Catch them behind the decks in 2 weeks time at the sold out event 'THE SEND OFF'.

☀️LELA'S☀️

As most of our regular customers are aware, Clare and I are off on an adventure with our family around Australia.
However, we are beyond excited to announce that our good friends and talented chefs, Marley Van Den Boom & Taylor Corbacho, are taking over the Karrikin space as Lela's for the next 18 months.
These guys have achieved so much in their cooking careers so far, both having worked many years in our kitchen and travelling Australia and abroad to work in some fantastic venues.
We can't wait for them to open their doors to you in early September to share their love and passion for great food, drink, and warm hospitality.
Our last day of trading is Sunday the 31st of August, so come and join us for one last meal, or a drink and a chat.
Lots of Love. Zac & Clare. Xx
