KICK ALBUM : TRACK 5
❌❌ MEDIATE

We’ve all heard the story of how KICK was originally rejected by Atlantic Records when INXS manager Chris Murphy first delivered it. The record company president argued the album's hybrid blend of funk, rock, and dance music would bomb on radio.

Desperate to keep the record off store shelves, Murphy was offered $1 million for INXS to throw the tapes in the trash, go back to Australia, and record a completely new album.

Murphy knew KICK was a masterpiece, so he refused the offer and thank God he did!

We can’t help but think it was songs like MEDIATE that had the label execs so dismissive. But this hypnotic gem became one of INXS’s most intriguing pieces of work and we have an absolute ball performing it.

It’s been re-imagined in many different ways on our stage - sometimes with an electronic drum beat, sometimes with a 2 minute piano solo. But every time is unique to that specific night and we can’t wait to show you what we have in store for you when we perform it on our national GET KICKED TOUR!

Let’s get kicked.
