Today, we’re celebrating someone very special. 🤎🎉

Please join us in wishing our beautiful Tennille the happiest of birthdays!

Over the past five years, she has poured her heart and soul into Brown Sugar. Her passion, determination and unwavering work ethic have helped shape this little café into the community hub it is today.

Behind every early morning, every coffee served, every event, every challenge and every milestone has been a woman who gives absolutely everything. A devoted wife, an incredible mum, a loyal friend and a business owner who has always put others before herself.

Tennille leads with kindness, strength and generosity, and Brown Sugar simply wouldn’t be what it is without her. The love she’s poured into this café can be felt in every corner, and we know so many of you have been touched by her warmth, compassion and genuine care over the years.

We hope today brings you all the love and happiness you deserve, Tennille. Thank you for everything you’ve done for Brown Sugar and for this wonderful community. We couldn’t be prouder of you. 🤎

If you’ve ever shared a coffee, a conversation or a laugh with Tennille, we’d love for you to leave her a birthday message in the comments below. Let’s make her day extra special.

And if you can, come and join us tomorrow for Tennille’s final day at Brown Sugar before the next chapter begins. Let’s raise a coffee, share a hug and later raise a glass to an extraordinary woman who has given so much to so many. 🥂🤎

Tomorrow is the day. 🤎

It’s hard to believe that after 5 incredible years, tomorrow will be my final day as owner of Brown Sugar.

As I look back, my heart is full. Full of gratitude, pride and so many wonderful memories. This little café has given me so much more than I ever imagined. Lifelong friendships, an incredible team, a community that has become like family, and thousands of conversations over coffee that I’ll treasure forever.

To every single person who has walked through our doors, supported us, recommended us, celebrated life’s milestones with us or simply made Brown Sugar part of your daily routine… thank you. You have been the heart of this café, and I will be forever grateful.

While this chapter is coming to an end, I know Brown Sugar is in wonderful hands, and I’m so excited to see Ashley and Emily begin their own journey.

If you’d like to say goodbye, share one last coffee or simply pop in for a chat, we’d love to see you tomorrow, Friday 7th August, from 6am to 1pm.

We’ll have homemade scones, our famous José’s Donuts (arriving from 8am), FREE Paradox Coffee with every donut or scone purchase, FREE puppachinos, and live music from Matthew Tsalidis from 8:45am to help us celebrate.

Then, from 4pm, we’d love for you to join Tennille, David, Abby and the Brown Sugar family at Red Dog on the Green for a farewell drink and one final toast to an unforgettable chapter.

Thank you for 5 years of love, laughter and support.

We’ll see you tomorrow for one last coffee together. 🤎

Our trip down memory lane continues… and today we’re looking back at 2023. 🤎

If there’s one word to describe this year, it would be memorable.

It was the year we somehow managed to juggle two shops while making the move into Shop 5. There was plenty of hard work, long days and a few moments that felt like our very own version of The Block! But every bit of it was worth it to create the Brown Sugar you know and love today.

It was also a year of giving back, with Kane Calcite busking outside the café in support of the Illawarra Convoy. Seeing our community come together for such a wonderful cause is a memory we’ll always treasure.

Of course, 2023 also brought plenty of visits from our favourite four-legged customers, Easter celebrations, smiling faces and countless moments shared over coffee.

Looking through these photos, we’re reminded that it’s never just been about the coffee. It’s always been about the people, the pups, the laughs and the memories we’ve created together.

Thank you for making 2023 another chapter we’ll never forget. 🤎

Which photo brings back the most memories for you? We’d love to hear your favourite Brown Sugar moment from 2023 in the comments. ☕️🐶✨

This Friday, we’re filling the café with coffee, music, homemade treats and, most importantly… the people who made Brown Sugar what it is. 🤎

Donuts will arrive from approximately 8am.

🐶 FREE puppachinos for all our furry café regulars.

🍻 From 4pm, join us at Red Dog on the Green to raise a glass, share a laugh and celebrate an incredible chapter together.

If Brown Sugar has ever been your morning ritual, your catch-up spot, your weekend tradition or simply your favourite place for coffee, we’d love to see you one last time before we hand over the keys.

Please share this post to your stories and help us reach everyone who’s ever been part of the Brown Sugar family. The more familiar faces we can fill the café with on Friday, the more special the day will be. We can’t wait to celebrate with you all. 🤎

Next stop on our trip down memory lane… 2022. 🤎

What a year it was.

One of the biggest highlights was seeing Brown Sugar unexpectedly step onto the world stage of cycling. During the UCI Road World Championships, we had the privilege of becoming the go-to café for the Belgian cycling team.

To see some of the world’s best athletes choosing Brown Sugar for their morning coffee and meals was something we’ll never forget. It was a surreal moment for our little café in Mangerton and one that made us incredibly proud.

But beyond the cycling, 2022 was another year filled with familiar faces, new friendships and the everyday moments that make this place so special. Morning coffees, weekend catch-ups, laughter across the tables and the incredible community that continued to support us.

Looking back at these photos reminds us just how many wonderful memories have been created within these walls.

Were you around in 2022? Maybe you spotted the Belgian team, grabbed a coffee alongside them or have a favourite memory from that year. We’d love to hear it below. 🤎☕️

As we count down to handing Brown Sugar over to its wonderful new owners, Ashley and Emily, we wanted to spend this final week doing something a little special. 🤎

Over the next few days, we’ll be taking a trip down memory lane and sharing some of the moments that helped shape Brown Sugar into the café it is today.

Today’s throwback takes us back to 2021.

Like so many small businesses, COVID challenged us in ways we never imagined. For a time, Brown Sugar became a little takeaway window at the front of the shop. There were no bustling tables, no hugs or catch-ups over coffee, just takeaway cups, friendly faces from a distance and a community that continued to show up for us every single day.

Looking back, it’s a beautiful reminder that even in uncertain times, our community never stopped supporting local.

To everyone who grabbed a coffee through that little window, thank you. You helped keep Brown Sugar going, and we’ll never forget it. 🤎

Were you one of our takeaway window regulars? We’d love to hear your memories in the comments. ☕️✨

Some announcements are harder to write than others. 🤎

Today, Tennille is sharing some very special news.

After nine incredible years of pouring coffees, sharing conversations and building a community that feels more like family, Brown Sugar is beginning a new chapter.

This is a letter from Tennille to every customer who has walked through our doors, supported our small business and helped make Brown Sugar what it is today.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for every coffee ordered, every kind word, every catch-up around our tables and every moment you’ve shared with us. You have been the heart of Brown Sugar.

As Ashley and Emily prepare to take over the café, we know they’ll continue this beautiful story with the same passion for great coffee, genuine hospitality and community.

Here’s to the next chapter ☕️🤎

Sunday plans? We think they should include something warm, flaky and covered in cinnamon. 🤎✨

There’s something special about slowing down on a Sunday. A great coffee in one hand, a sweet treat in the other, and nowhere you need to rush off to.

Our cinnamon croughnuts are everything you want them to be. Buttery, perfectly crisp on the outside, soft and fluffy in the middle, with layers that melt in your mouth and a generous coating of cinnamon sugar.

Whether you’re meeting friends, taking yourself out for a little weekend treat or grabbing something delicious on the go, we’d love to see you.

We’re open tomorrow from 7am to 1pm for your favourite hot or cold drinks, sweet treats and cosy Sunday catch-ups.

Who’s bringing someone along for a Sunday coffee date? 🤎☕️🍩
