WHAT’S ON // One of Port Kembla’s most cherished community events is getting closer, and we already know it’s going to be a very special night! ✨
The Port Kembla Lantern Parade is happening on Thursday 20th August, bringing locals together for an evening filled with creativity, connection and plenty of community spirit.
As the sun goes down, handmade lanterns will light up the streets as the parade makes its way from Coomaditchie Lagoon through to Port Kembla Public School, with live entertainment, food and a whole lot of magical local moments along the way.
We just love seeing events like this that bring neighbours, families and friends together to celebrate the place they call home. A little winter outing, a little creativity, and a very good reason to rug up and head outside.
If you’re keen to make your own lantern, there’s still time! Warrawong Library has a dedicated lantern-making space open until the day of, so you can drop in during opening hours, get creative and bring your lantern along to the parade. Materials are provided, it’s free, and there’s no booking needed (just pop in while lantern-making supplies are available).
We can’t wait to see Port Kembla light up.
