We're hiring casuals.

The Middle Pub needs a few good people to round out the team, and we've got shifts going right across the board. Bar staff who can hold their own on a busy Saturday. Floor and waiting staff for the dining room. And kitchen hands and prep staff to keep things humming behind the scenes.

Experienced or just starting out, we want to hear from you. If you're 16 or 17 and after a first job, we've got floor and kitchen work that's a great way in (you need to be 18 with an RSA to work the bar, but everything else is open). Bring reliability and a good attitude and we'll teach you the rest.

Reliable hours, a friendly crew, and owners who work right alongside you. Weekends are our busy time, so some weekend availability is a must.

Keen? Send your CV and a few words about yourself to [email protected]. Know someone who'd be perfect? Tag them below.

The Willunga Hotel is looking for a Duty Manager / Assistant Manager to join our front-of-house team.
We are a family-owned and operated hotel in the heart of Willunga, with a strong local following, plenty of visitor trade and an established team of people who know the hotel and our customers well.
We've owned and operated the hotel for many years .The business continues to grow and we're investing in the hotel, our people and what we offer our customers.
We're looking for someone who would like to become an important part of that.
About the role
This is a hands-on position working across all areas of a busy country hotel — bars, dining, gaming, functions and our b**r garden.
As Duty Manager, you'll be responsible for the hotel while on shift in a hands on capacity. You'll be part of the team, serving customers, helping staff and making sure the hotel runs the way it should.
The role includes:
• leading the front-of-house team during service
• opening and closing the hotel
• bar, dining and gaming operations
• cash handling and end-of-shift procedures
• maintaining service and presentation standards
• dealing confidently with the everyday issues that come with running a pub
• helping train and support other staff
• contributing to functions, events and promotions
• working with us to continue improving how the hotel operates
• dealing with customer complaints
There is also plenty of scope for greater responsibility for someone who wants it.
Who we're looking for
We're fairly open-minded about experience.
You may already be an experienced Duty Manager or Assistant Manager looking for a good long-term position.
Alternatively, you might be an experienced bar or hospitality person who has reached the point where you're ready to take on more responsibility. If you've got the right attitude and ability, we're prepared to help you develop into the role.
More than anything, we're looking for someone who is:
• reliable and comfortable taking responsibility
• good with customers and staff
• calm when things get busy
• willing to lead by example and get involved
• organised and able to make sensible decisions
• familiar with the realities of hospitality, including nights and weekends
• interested in being part of a business rather than simply filling shifts
You will need the appropriate RSA, Responsible Person and gaming qualifications for the role. If you're the right person but don't currently hold everything required, we're happy to discuss helping you obtain the necessary qualifications.
What we can offer
We're flexible about how we structure the position.
For the right person, we're open to either full-time employment or a high-hours casual role, with hours, responsibilities and remuneration based on experience.
You'll be working directly with owners who are experienced hands-on publicans. We understand what a busy Saturday night looks like and are there to provide support.
The Willunga Hotel is a 158-year-old heritage pub in one of South Australia's great food and w**e regions. We have a restaurant, multiple bars, gaming, a large b**r garden and a growing functions and events business.
We're ambitious about where we're taking the hotel, but we're still a family-run country pub at heart.
If that sounds like somewhere you'd like to work, we'd like to hear from you.

Full-time or high-hours casual | Willunga, South Australia
The Willunga Hotel is looking for an experienced Chef to join our kitchen team.
We are a family-owned and operated hotel in the heart of Willunga, with a strong and established food trade, a busy kitchen and a great team of experienced people.
We've owned and operated the hotel for many years. The business continues to grow and we're investing in both the hotel and what we offer our customers.
We're now looking for another good chef to become part of that future.
About the role
This is a hands-on cooking role in a busy country hotel kitchen, working across preparation and service.
Our food is based around good quality, generous pub meals done well. We make a lot of what we serve in-house and take pride in consistency, presentation and providing genuine value.
Depending on your experience, the role can also include involvement in:
• menu development and specials
• ordering and purchasing
• food costing and GP control
• stock and waste management
• kitchen systems and procedures
• functions and events
• helping develop and support the rest of the kitchen team
We aren't necessarily looking for someone to come in and change everything. We have a good kitchen operation already. We are looking for someone who can add to it.
Who we're looking for
Ideally, you'll be an experienced qualified chef who is comfortable working in a busy hotel environment.
We're looking for someone who:
• can work confidently across prep and service
• takes pride in putting up consistently good food
• understands portion control, food costs and waste
• works well as part of a small, experienced team
• is organised, reliable and level-headed
• understands the realities of hospitality, including some nights and weekends
• holds, or is prepared to obtain, the appropriate Food Safety Supervisor qualification
Experience with ordering, menu development or managing a kitchen would be an advantage, but we're happy to shape the position around the right person.
What we can offer
We're flexible about how this position is structured.
For the right person, we're open to either full-time employment or a high-hours casual position, with hours, responsibilities and remuneration discussed according to experience.
More importantly, we can offer a stable workplace where the owners are actively involved in the business, the kitchen has an experienced existing team, and there is genuine opportunity to contribute to where we go next.
The Willunga Hotel is a 158-year-old heritage pub in one of South Australia's great food and w**e regions. We have a strong local following as well as significant visitor trade, an extensive b**r garden, restaurant, bars and a growing functions and events business.
We're ambitious about where we're taking the hotel, but we're still a family-run country pub at heart.
If this sounds like somewhere you'd like to work, we'd like to hear from you.

🐷 FATHER’S DAY — DONE THE WILLUNGA WAY! 🍻
Dad reckons he doesn’t want a fuss. Grandpa says he’s happy with a cold b**r. The kids are just coming for lunch… and somehow the whole family ends up around the table. Funny how that happens.
This Father’s Day, Sunday 6th September, gather the family and celebrate Dad, Grandpa and all the father figures who deserve to have someone else worry about lunch for a change.
Settle into the Restaurant, enjoy the fresh air of the B**r Garden, or find your spot under the Pergola — however your family likes to celebrate, you can Dine Your Way.
Good food, a few drinks, plenty of laughs and the people who matter around the table. That sounds like a pretty good Father’s Day to us.
🐷 Bookings are now open — book early to secure your place.
Great Events. Great Memories.

I keep seeing these “STOP! THIS POST USES AI!” warnings popping up in the comments, so, unusually for me, I thought I'd respond.

Yes. I use AI.

I'm a small business owner who regularly works 80+ hours a week. I don't have a marketing department, an IT department, a graphic designer, a systems manager, an administrative assistant, a menu development team or a technical support desk hiding somewhere out the back.

Unfortunately, I checked. It's still just us.

AI helps me create marketing material in a fraction of the time it once took — and often to a better standard.

It helps us research dishes, develop menu ideas, calculate recipes and improve kitchen processes.

When a till, computer, network, Wi-Fi access point, security system or piece of technology decides it no longer wants to cooperate, AI can help me diagnose the problem and often fix it in-house rather than immediately calling someone out at considerable expense.

It helps speed up data entry, invoices and purchase records.

It helps me write and improve SOPs, staff documents, training material, procedures and the mountain of paperwork that comes with running a small business.

It helps research problems, explain things I don't understand, analyse options and occasionally point out that the brilliant solution I've been contemplating for three hours is, in fact, not particularly brilliant.

What it doesn't do is open the doors in the morning, cook your schnitzel, pour your b**r, clean the kitchen, serve your table, pay the bills or lock the pub at the end of the night.

People do that.

I'm also quite capable of recognising that AI has legitimate issues around energy use, copyright, employment and how generated content is used. Those are conversations worth having.

But dismissing every use of AI as “slop” makes about as much sense to me as telling a carpenter that using a power saw is cheating because somebody once made a beautiful table with a handsaw.

For a large corporation, AI might be about replacing costs.

For many small businesses, it's about giving one very busy person access to capabilities they simply couldn't otherwise afford.

So yes, sometimes our posts use AI.

They also use computers, spellcheck, accounting software, EFTPOS machines, commercial dishwashers and electric lights.

I'm not giving those up either.

Oh, by the way, this took me 10 minutes to put together using AI. Otherwise, I would have spent the morning stewing over this and not getting anything else done. I now feel better and have my whole morning to do my other duties.

🍸🐷 PIGGY’S BEEN SHAKING THINGS UP! 🐷🍸

Our favourite Willunga Piggy has discovered the cocktail shaker… and frankly, there may be no going back.

He’s starting with a pub favourite — the Espresso Martini. Rich coffee, Kahlúa, vodka and plenty of shake, shake, shake… served icy cold with that glorious frothy top.

And because one cocktail can get lonely, they’re 2 for $22 — ALL DAY, EVERY DAY!

Not an Espresso Martini person? Piggy won’t judge. The S*x on the Beach, Fruit Tingle and Piña Colada are all joining the 2 for $22 party too.

So grab a mate, pull up a stool and let Piggy do the shaking.

Great Cocktails. Great Company.
