Malaysia turns 69 this year — Merdeka, Merdeka, Merdeka!

If you know Kafe Kooks, you know we call ourselves The House Of Roti — and that title belongs to one person more than anyone else: our Roti Master, Suresh.

Suresh is Malaysian, and the way he works that dough isn't something he picked up on the job — it's technique passed down through his family, generation to generation. Every stretch, fold and flip you see happening behind our counter carries that tradition with it. Simply put, without Suresh, we wouldn't be who we are.

So today we're raising a roti to Malaysia, and to Suresh — thank you for bringing your heritage into every single one you make. 🧡

Looking for the perfect date night idea? 🕯️🫓

We've still got limited spots left for our Roti Masterclass this Thursday 27 August — hands-on roti lesson, a five-course Malaysian feast to share, and the option to add bottomless cocktails, wine and beer.

You'll learn a skill together that you can take home and practise anytime roti comes to mind... which, let's be honest, might be more often than you'd expect. 😏

What a morning yesterday. 📺🧡

We just want to say a huge thank you to everyone who made our Sunrise cross happen and made it such a great one.

To Sam Mac and the whole Sunrise crew — thank you for choosing us and for making the whole thing so much fun.

To Curated Agency — thank you for coordinating the whole thing behind the scenes and making it all come together so smoothly.

To Tina Martini — your performance and energy carried the morning, thank you for entertaining everyone who came down.

To all our customers, followers and friends who popped in early to be part of it — you made the atmosphere what it was, and we loved having you here.

And last but never least, to the crew here at Kafe Kooks who were up before the sun and soldiered through the whole day — this one's for you. We couldn't be prouder of how you all showed up.

A very special thank you to Suresh and Sabin, who both stepped way out of their comfort zone to do a live cross-over talk on camera. The morning simply wouldn't have been possible without them putting themselves out there like that.

Shhh. 🤫

We can't say too much, but tomorrow morning Kafe Kooks is popping up on Channel 7's Sunrise as their weather cross location. Mum's the word until it airs. 🤐📺

Want a shot at getting yourself on camera (or at least in the background)? Come on down from 5:30am. Just can't promise what coffee or food we'll be able to get out to you while the cameras are rolling.

Once the segment wraps at 8:45am, we're back open with open arms — full menu, full service, no restrictions.
