39 weeks until Queensland's East Coast net (NX) fishery closes on 30 June 2027 - and this page isn't here to ease into it.

Barramundi and king threadfin ("threadfin salmon") are currently fished at sustainable levels in this fishery. What's disappearing on 30 June isn't the problem - it's the only proven way of commercially catching them. Twelve weeks from now we're taking a break for summer, but the countdown doesn't stop, and neither does our position: if there's no proven replacement, the nets stay until there is.

That's it. That's the whole campaign. Follow along - we're going to make this hard to ignore before the year's out.
