One candle. One community. A nation standing in absolute solidarity with Helen and her family.

This Friday evening, we invite you to join us beneath the evening sky as we take part in the national candlelight vigil for Helen Haines.

Friday 23 October | Gardens open from 7:30 pm
The Plough Inn, Tarrawingee

At 8:00 pm, we will light our candles and observe 15 minutes of silence, standing together in love, compassion and unwavering support for Helen and her family.

Please bring a candle or LED candle light.

May every flame remind Helen that she is surrounded by love, and that an entire community stands beside her.

COMING TOGETHER FOR HELEN & OUR COMMUNITY

Our hearts are with Helen Haines and her family following the devastating events of this week.

Like so many across our region, we are shocked and deeply saddened by what has happened.

At times like these, there are no easy words. But there is comfort in coming together, looking after one another and knowing that no one has to face difficult moments alone.

This Friday morning, we warmly invite our community to gather for a quiet cup of tea or coffee, to share a conversation, offer support or simply be together.

INTRODUCING THE PLOUGH HERITAGE COLLECTION

The Plough Heritage Collection is a curation of pieces that reflects the heritage and character of this old Inn, and carries a little bit of it wherever they go.

Woollen hats • caps • tees • tote bags • branded glassware • picnic rugs • leather key rings

The Plough Heritage Collection will make its debut at the Plough Inn Christmas Market here in Tarrawingee on Sunday 6th December.

After the market, the Heritage Collection will be available for purchase through the website and here at The Plough.

Spring has sprung at The Plough.

The wisteria and the fruit trees around our historic inn are out in bloom.

Quince • citrus • apples • pomegranates • mulberries • olives

The care these trees get now is what gives us the very best fruit later in the season. Once it’s ready, it will be carefully picked and taken to the kitchen, where it will be turned into something a little bit magical for our menu.

We look forward to sharing it with you.

IT’S OFFICIAL!

The Plough Inn Seasonal Markets are coming to Tarrawingee.

Beginning this December, the grounds of our historic inn will come alive with regional makers, growers, producers, craftspeople and artisans from across Victoria’s High Country, alongside live music and food and drinks from The Plough.

First up, our Christmas Market.

Sunday 6 December 2026
2pm–7pm

A chance to get your Christmas shopping sorted and discover locally grown, made and crafted goods from across our region.

And this is just the beginning.

The b**r garden at golden hour. A steak cooked just right, a frothy b**r within reach, string lights overhead and the fire pit glowing nearby. An ordinary weeknight, quietly turned into something worth remembering.

In 1861, a timber inn appeared at the edge of the goldfields track.

Travellers tied their horses out front, rested their boots and continued on toward the mountains.

This photograph captures those early years - horses hitched to the verandah, a covered wagon out front, men gathered beneath the porch and a small child standing in the dirt, looking up at the inn.

Before the brick walls that stand today. Before the bistro. The Plough began as a simple timber inn on the early routes linking the goldfields, farms and mountain tracks - a wayside stop for travellers heading to the High Country.

For more than 160 years, The Plough Inn has stood at the heart of Tarrawingee.

Generations of locals and travellers have walked through its doors.

And they still do today.
