Greetings from Broken hill. I didn't win a prize, however the painting sold as soon as the doors opened the next morning (with two parties keen to buy😊). I'm going to do a little trumpet blowing! 🎺

Some of our customers may know that, apart from cooking and serving food, I'm also a passionate artist outside of work.

I'm incredibly excited to be heading to Broken Hill for a week to attend the opening and judging of the Pro Hart Outback Art Prize, where my piece, The Bush Track, has been selected as a finalist.

While I'm away, you'll be in the very capable hands of the fabulous Melissa, the wonderful Libby, and our lovely Indah, who will be looking after you at the café.

Winter warmers available at the Red Dove this week include pumpkin and sweet potato soup, cottage mince on toast, and our roast vegetable and feta quiche or bacon and spinach quiche (both gf). We also have cheese kransky with German red cabbage, baked potato and sour cream... plus other daily specials.

Tomorrow we say farewell to June Braithwaite. June and her husband Brian were active Red Dove Cafe volunteers who were with the cafe from its earlier years until about eight years ago. The Cafe will be closed until 11am to allow us time to prepare for the funeral and wake.

A number of staff are unwell today so we are closing the cafe for the day. We hope to be back to normal tomorrow.
