VALE DOROTHY LUDEKE, to us, DOT.
Dot joined Taree RSL Club in 1977.
Dot has been a mainstay of Club Taree, and formerly Taree RSL Club for the last 49 years.
Dot remains our longest serving Director, having served for 26 years on the Board of Club Taree and previously Taree RSL Club from 1990 - 2016.
Dot was made a Life Member of Taree RSL Club in 2001.
Dot was recognised for her outstanding contribution to Club Taree and Taree RSL Club, and duly appointed as Club Patron of Club Taree in 2017, a role she epitomised through her service, her dedication, and her vocalised commitment to both Club Taree and our Team.
Dot, was to our team, the essence of Club Taree. Never failing to follow up, enquire, and share stories of the conversations she had enjoyed with team members, both past and present.
Dot was our biggest championeer, staunch in her dedication and admiration, vocal in her support and celebration of a job well done, and empathetic and enduring during more challenging times.
On becoming Club Patron, at the time, club staff were asked to reflect on how they would describe Dot. Responses at the time included, kindhearted, spirited, passionate, hardworking, energetic, a loyal supporter, strong and generous, and most poignantly, a dear friend.
Dot served as Chair of the Activities Council for 13 years.
Dot was a Foundation Member of the Club Directors Institute.
Dot was Past Secretary Clubs NSW Far North Coast Southern Region.
Dot was Secretary of the Club Taree Dance Club (and former Taree RSL Dance Club) for 36 years.
Dot was Patron of the Club Taree Fishing Club.
To many members Dot, will be most remembered for her unwaivering commitment to club life here at Club Taree, whether that be supporting our internal clubs, acting as an official representative, or simply selling raffle tickets.
During her time as Club Patron, Dot remained a positive reflection of our values and culture and as such was a direct representative of, and for, our members.
Her legacy is that of ‘Dot’, one that we will remember and endear ourselves in respect to her enormous contribution to ‘Club Life’ here at Club Taree.
Dot passed away peacefully this morning, Saturday 22nd August 2026.
Dot was aged 93.
We remain indebted to Dot’s loyal service, and our thoughts are with her much loved family.
Our flags will be lowered today to half-mast as a sign of respect and will remain at half-mast until her funeral service.
