For over 65 years, Meals on Wheels has played a crucial role nationally in supporting the health and wellbeing of over 200,000 older Australians each year, across 592 service locations. Our purpose is to support well-nourished and independent communities through the delivery of a nutritious meal, social connection and a wellbeing check by our dedicated volunteer workforce.

💙 Farewell to our Barry! 💚

After 21 years of volunteering with Tamworth Meals on Wheels, Barry is hanging up his volunteer vest and starting a well-earned new chapter.

It’s hard to imagine our mornings here without him. Over the years, Barry has become such a familiar face around the office, a friend to the team and someone our clients have come to know and look forward to seeing.

He’s shared countless deliveries, conversations, laughs, coffees and stories with us over the years - and somewhere along the way, Barry stopped being just a volunteer and became part of our family.

We know our clients will miss seeing him at their door just as much as we’ll miss seeing him walk through ours.

Barry, thank you for everything - for your 21 years of giving your time, your kindness, your humour, the chats, the laughs and for simply being Barry. You’ve been a pretty special part of our Meals on Wheels family, and we’re so grateful for the years we’ve had with you.

While we’ll definitely miss having you on the roster, we’re very happy that this next chapter means you get a little more time for yourself.

Thank you for 21 wonderful years, Barry. You’ll always be part of the Meals on Wheels family. ❤️

💜 Dementia Action Week | We’re keeping the conversation going

It’s Dementia Action Week, so we’re taking the opportunity to talk about something that matters to so many people in our community - dementia, connection and the importance of staying socially connected.

And next Wednesday, we’re putting that into action at our Volunteer Cuppa & Catch-Up. ☕💜

Our September catch-up will be part of Cuppa Time for Dementia, with donations going to Dementia Australia.

So, if you’re one of our wonderful volunteers, come along for a cuppa, some morning tea, a chat and a chance to support a great cause.

Jo has been part of our Meals on Wheels family since 2019, and we’re pretty excited that he’s recently joined our team as a volunteer!

With his bright shorts, colourful shirts and plenty of personality, Jo certainly knows how to make an entrance! 😄 He brings his own kind of energy to the team, and we love seeing him get involved.

Meals On Wheels Catering 🍓🧀🥨

The night before the Links for Life Expo at TRECC, we were proud to cater a networking evening bringing together local organisations and community services.

Our team put together a spread that was beautifully presented and tasted amazing, and they were so proud to see just how impressed everyone was with what Meals on Wheels can offer.

It was a great reminder that we’re not just about delivering meals - we’re here to support, connect and contribute to our local community in so many ways. 💙

☕ Volunteer Cuppa & Catch-Up | Cuppa Time for Dementia

Our next Volunteer Cuppa & Catch-Up is coming up on Wednesday, 28 October, and this time we’ll be adding a little something extra.

Along with enjoying a cuppa, a chat and some time together, we’ll be taking part in Cuppa Time for Dementia to raise funds for Dementia Australia. 💜

It’s a lovely opportunity to catch up with our wonderful volunteers, enjoy some morning tea and support a cause that means so much to the communities we work in.
