You probably recognise the handsome silver fox sitting next to me... the late, great Anthony Bourdain.
Tony was an exceptional chef, an incredible storyteller and one of the most genuine people I had the privilege of knowing. This photo was taken when he was in Sydney filming, and we spent the day out on the harbour talking about Australian food, hospitality and life.
We'd crossed paths a few times over the years, first meeting when he came to Salt for dinner back in 2000. Every conversation with Tony was memorable.
One of my favourite memories was visiting him in New York, where he insisted on taking me to his favourite neighbourhood bar, a real dive, if I'm honest. We drank far too much tequila, and the next day he joked that he'd "crawled home like a whipped dog." I've never let him forget it.
Tony was one of a kind. Curious, honest, fearless and endlessly passionate about people, food and culture. I feel incredibly lucky to have shared those moments with him, and they're memories I'll always treasure.
