No appetite postpartum? šŸ¤Ž
Take the pressure off.
Think small + often.
Keep easy foods within reach.
Let convenience do some of the work.
It doesn’t have to be perfect. It just needs to be possible.

Babies get dressed. Mothers need feeding.

Everything on this list has one thing in common - it’s for her, not the baby. The baby has a drawer full of onesies she hasn’t opened. She doesn’t have anything to eat at 3pm with one arm free.

A few notes:
The snack hamper is underrated. One hand, no prep, no crumbs in the baby’s hair (optimistic).
The house clean is the one nobody thinks to give and everybody wishes for.
The doula visit is the gift for the friend who’s already got everything.
The PJs - easy access, room to move, and a fabric that survives the night sweats.
And the meals - future her will thank you. Week four is harder than week one, and that’s usually when the help disappears.
Save this for the next baby shower. Or send it to whoever keeps asking what to get you šŸ¤

When plain toast stops cutting it, this is the bowl.

Daisy and I built every meal for the fourth trimester, the weeks no one preps you for. This is our secret-recipe butter chicken, and it’s secretly dairy-free. Coconut cream instead of dairy, silky and gentle on a sensitive tummy.

Generous free-range chicken thigh, warm turmeric and ginger, gently spiced, not fiery. Two serves, over rice, ready in ten. The meal that feels like a treat and looks after you at the same time. šŸ¤

Save this one for when you’re stocking your freezer.

I just thought 2nd baby would be the same as the 1st 🫠

The first trimester is so hard because you don’t really have a baby bump (although I did - also 2nd baby things!), and you probably haven’t told many people yet, you are soooo tired and then throw nausea and food aversions on top of it.

I tried to keep it colourful but there was A LOT of beige coloured food in my first trimester! šŸ„šŸ„–šŸ•šŸŸšŸ

Two mums, no experience, and a problem no one was fixing.

It started at a kitchen bench at 5pm. One of us pregnant, a toddler underfoot, starving, eating toast standing up in a kitchen full of food we couldn’t actually do anything with. We’d always been the friends who cooked for someone who’d just had a baby, and then we were the ones with newborns and couldn’t anymore.

That’s when we clocked the thing no one says out loud: everyone feeds the baby, no one feeds the mum.

So we built the thing we couldn’t buy when we needed it. Around jobs, toddlers, pregnancies, learning it all at night while plenty of people quietly assumed it was a phase. It wasn’t. šŸ¤

Swipe through for the whole story. And if you know someone building something of their own, send it their way.

Check on your friends at week five postpartum. It’s the bit everyone forgets.

By five or six weeks, the newborn’s not new news anymore, and life’s gone back to normal for everyone around her. Which is exactly how she becomes the person no one thinks to check on. She looks fine. But you can be deep in it and still look completely okay from the outside.

You don’t have to fix anything. Send a coffee, drop a meal, or just text ā€œhow are you, really?ā€ And if you can’t be near her, send this to someone who can. šŸ¤

Week five is the one worth remembering.
