It’s rare that we go to the movies. For and myself, it really has to be a good one. A movie that moves you or at least grabs you from the first trailer. Last year we only watched four movies in the cinema (, Freakier Friday, and ), just cause of how the year turned out. And in 2024, we only saw 2 in the cinemas ( and and Wolverine). This year we plan to see catch all three of Doomsday, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew and the new film in the cinemas/IMAX. But before we get to all of these at the end of the year; let me tell you… that Jon and I saw a brilliant, captivating, inspiring and wonderfully hopeful movie today.

The 2018 film I Can Only Imagine didn’t need a sequel. You had the story of (frontman of ) writing the hit song I Can Only Imagine inspired by his tenuous relationship with his father. That’s an inspirational film in its own right. But eight years later, we have 2. I won’t go into details… but please go watch this movie and the first one if you haven’t! It’s amazing and one of my favourite movies in a long time! It will really challenge you and also lift your spirits!

Well done to all involved (, , Milo Ventimiglia, .skelton, , ), you all were superb, and Jon and myself were blessed to see such an incredible true story brought to life on the screen! It was also great to eat out for dinner beforehand as well (cause we never really do that on the regular!), so all in all, a great afternoon. Note- sorry about the last photo, it was a landscape photo instead of portrait! Note 2- audio on insta is still sketchy for me so the song ‘Even If’ is in the comments!

I know it’s been long overdue (1 and a half weeks), but it’s time for the third installment of photos from Jon’s and my holiday. Photos of us walking over the Harbour Bridge, in the Botanical Gardens, and around Darling Harbour and Paddy’s Markets. We also ate at Fishbowl… a first for us and definitely not our last! The last time and myself went to the Revolving Restaurant in the city was when we were in high school- it was when we ate crocodile, emu and kangaroo. Yesterday we went again. Just because we were on holidays. And though the food was slightly underwhelming, it was overall a good experience for the views and views alone. Not sure if my experience of the restaurant itself was tainted forever. But with the company, it’ll still be a good memory. Put it this way. I reckon humans are basically social eaters anyway. If you eat out at a semi mediocre restaurant with friends, you’ll probably have a better experience than eating out alone at a Michelin star restaurant. Food for thought. What is your favourite restaurant to eat at and why?

You know how some people you just click with, and you can get along with them and be friends with them instantly? That’s the beauty of our cafe , and a testament to the genuine and real people that have come in through the door throughout this whole time- resulting in some of the most vibrant and richest friendships and I have experienced in recent memory, even though some of these friendships are across international waters. Over the past few years, my brother Jonathan and I have celebrated sustained friendships (local and international) with , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , .vn, , and long time friends Karno, Angela, and Nelson (all not on Instagram), to name a few.

Now, another group of people have officially entered into our friend group. .weislogel, , , .carrara and are some of the most authentic, kind, gracious and considerate people we’ve met in a long time, and last night at , we celebrated our friendship together, and looked to the future with eager anticipation.

Gigi, Charlotte, Amelia, Tea and Maria are all leaving us soon unfortunately as they all have to go back home to the U. S. for their final year of university, but last night was a fun night of celebration of friendship, and camaraderie (although Maria couldn’t make it)- it’s thoroughly enjoyable getting to know all of them a bit more, and as we reminisced, laughed and made some happy memories, the time has come to look forward! We’re glad we met all of you! It’s bittersweet, and we’re going to miss all of you! But, I’m sure we’ll be friends for many years to come, no matter how the mode of communication looks like! It’s never ‘goodbye’. It’s always ‘see you later’!

Being a cafe owner, having a night be out with friends is rare these days, especially when you have to go to sleep early and wake up early as well! However there are some people who you just click with and you can catch up with them and hang out even after however long not meeting! My brother and I are time poor, and that makes dinners with friends all the more special and important. And so, here are some photos from the other day of dinner in Bondi Junction at with Jon’s and my friend , whom we met a few times in 2023, and one time in early 2024. Sorry, , that you couldn’t be there, maybe next time; but it was a great night of fun, healthy discussion about a whole range of different topics, just chilling out and chatting about the good times! Here’s to many more hangouts like this!

It’s a rare occurrence when my brother and I have a night out. Between running our cafe , spending time with our pets, and just chilling out at home to recharge the batteries; going out for the purpose of hanging out with friends is an event few and far between!

Last night, however, was a rare night of celebration of friendship, camaraderie and relaxation! and may be regulars at the cafe, but they’re also two of our closest friends! Last night was a blast and thoroughly enjoyable getting to know both of them a bit more, and as we celebrated their engagement, and looked forward to their trip to England; we reminisced, laughed and made some happy memories! Rooting for you both! Glad we met you two! Onwards and upwards!
