If you're a new follower, here is a quick reintroduction. If you're an OG suki, let's look back on the journey thus far...
We are Jo & Sandra, husband and wife. We started Greenknowe in 2022, equipped with Jo's decades of experience as a chef, but with very little experience of running our own venue (it is a different ballgame altogether, we would quickly discover 😅).
Looks like Jo is part of an ongoing trend of chef-owned cafes and restaurants, which is great! Finally, all these highly experienced chefs are finally cooking their own Filipino food.
We are a neighbourhood cafe, where locals go everyday for their coffee and classic brekkie, and more importantly for connection.
But we are equally Filipino inspired, playing to our strengths. It is, after all, the cuisine that we know best.
The journey is definitely full of challenges (so just keep supporting Filipino business 🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭). But 3.5 years on, we are still here, nurturing the community we've helped build.
Aaaaaand, this is how this Filipino inspired cafe has found its spot in Elizabeth Bay, of all places! Probably less than 1 percent Filipino population (and that already includes us as we live locally 😂😂).
