The time has come!

As Elle moves into her new role, Zoomies is ready to find one or two wonderful people to join the team and carry on the amazing work she has done over the past two years.

These part-time café all-rounder roles would suit people looking for meaningful local work, where they can become part of a close-knit community while still having plenty of time for life outside work.

Each position offers:

• Two set working days per week
• Full open-to-close shifts
• Approximately 18 paid hours per week
• Five days free each week
• Permanent part-time stability and leave entitlements

This is a hands-on position involving customer service, preparing and serving food and drinks, coordinating the team, opening and closing the store, and keeping everything running smoothly.

We’re looking for people who are reliable, friendly, confident and comfortable taking responsibility once fully trained. Hospitality or supervisory experience would be ideal, but isn’t essential for the right person.

Pay will be discussed and will reflect experience and responsibilities, in accordance with the Fast Food Industry Award.

There are some BIG changes coming to Zoomies… 👀

After two amazing years of unwavering service, our wonderful Elle is heading off on a new adventure for a while 🥹

But don’t worry, she’s not leaving Zoomies behind completely! She’ll still be working her magic behind the scenes, making sure all your favourite meals and treats continue to make their way out of the Zoomies kitchen.

And before her next adventure begins, we have a pretty good reason to celebrate together…

Thank you to Council for supporting such a beautiful and meaningful way to honour Lily’s memory. ❤️ What an incredible legacy, one that may one day help bring someone else safely home to their family.

LILY’S LEGACY – HELPING OTHERS COME HOME SAFE

Last night Council unanimously backed a Mayoral Minute to create something pretty special in Lily Hooper’s memory.

I’ve spoken with Lily’s family about what a permanent memorial for her could look like, and rather than a single physical memorial, they wanted something that could actually help keep other people safe.

So that’s what we’re going to do.

Council will purchase a number of Personal Locator Beacons (PLBs) and make them available for locals and bushwalkers to borrow free of charge, along with some simple bushwalking safety information. We’ll seek to work with National Parks and our neighbours down in Wingecarribee and to make them available in strategic locations across the shire.

If you haven’t come across one before, a PLB is a small emergency beacon you carry with you when you’re heading into remote country. If something goes badly wrong, you can activate it and it sends a distress signal via satellite so emergency services can locate you.

Most importantly, it doesn’t rely on mobile phone reception.

There’s still a lot of work to do on the practical aspects of how we’ll make this work and that will be the subject of a further council report.

I think there’s something incredibly special about Lily’s family, in the middle of everything they’re going through, wanting her memory to be used to help someone else.

Hopefully these beacons never need to be activated.

But if one of them ever helps bring someone home safely to their family, then I reckon that will be a pretty special legacy for Lily.
