A little throwback to where it all began, a small espresso bar in Forest Glen opened by Kristy and Jake with a simple dream to serve great coffee and delicious food while creating a place where everyone felt at home.

That little coffee shop eventually grew into the Local Social you know today. We’re so proud of the community that has grown with us, from the familiar faces and friendships to the memories shared around the table. While so much has changed over the years, the heart of what we do has always stayed the same.

Whether you remember us from the Eanie Beanie days or have only recently discovered Local Social, thank you for being part of our journey. We’re so grateful to have shared it with you 🫶🏻

This week we had to say a very bittersweet goodbye to our in-house ray of sunshine, Olive, as she heads off to Japan for the adventure of a lifetime.

She’s been part of Local since she was a little cabbage patch kid who couldn’t even reach the tall things in the café, and somehow we blinked and she grew up right in front of us. We’ve watched her grow from that tiny little girl into the pocket rocket she is today, and getting to have a front-row seat to that has been pretty bloody special.

She’s brought a smile to more faces than she’ll ever realise and been the best part of so many people’s day. There are so many regulars who will know exactly who we mean when we say there’s just something about Olive that makes a place better.

We’re going to miss her more than we can put into words, but more than anything, we’re just so bloody proud of her.

We love you endlessly, Olive. See you soon xx
