We’re not eating fondant and marzipan-covered fruit cake anymore… so why are our wedding cakes still white?

Don’t get me wrong — white is timeless, classic and there are some absolutely stunning white wedding cakes getting around. 🤍

But we’re having fun with the flavours on the inside, so why not have a little fun with the outside too?

Steve takes his role as chief VBC taste tester VERY seriously… and yesterday’s cupcakes clearly passed the test!

Which is lucky for you, because I’ve found myself with a handful of extras from this week’s baking and I’m turning them into a VERY limited run of last-minute Father’s Day cupcake boxes!

My kitchen smells SO amazing right now 🤤

I genuinely cannot wait until they invent whatever technology is needed for you to be able to smell a cake through your socials… because this would have you drooling, I promise.

Is there anything better than the smell of a freshly baked cake?

Well… freshly baked white chocolate mud cakesssss.

Answer: nope. 😂

And the best part? This delightful smell is going to linger in the kitchen all night, which means when I’m stumbling towards my coffee in the morning, it’s going to smell EVEN BETTER.

You guys have absolutely filled my calendar — September is booked solid, as are the first two weeks of October!

My next available date is Friday 16th October, with only limited order spots remaining from there through to the end of 2026.

🌸☀️ IT’S SPRING! ☀️🌸

My favourite season of the year has officially arrived!

And with so many new faces joining the Vanilla by Camilla community over the past few months, I thought there was no better time for a little re-introduction.

Hi, I’m Millie! 👋🏼

I’m the creator, owner, baker, cleaner, dishwasher, delivery driver, admin assistant, content creator… and basically everything else behind Vanilla by Camilla. 😂

I’ve always loved baking, but it wasn’t until my science background started making sense of the chemistry behind what was happening in my mixing bowl that I fell madly, madly in love with it.

What started with a little nudge from a friend almost six years ago has grown from my first little cake orders into the business you see today — creating celebration cakes, wedding cakes, macarons, desserts and, more recently, plenty of opportunities for people to get in the kitchen and have a little fun themselves! 🥂🎂

And while VBC might be the business, there’s a whole lot of life happening behind the scenes too.

I’m a wife to Steve, Mum to Ned and Grace, we live and work on a farm south of Dalby, and I also work part-time in precision agriculture.

So yes… there’s usually a lot going on around here! 😂

But at the heart of it, Vanilla by Camilla is about making beautiful, delicious things for people to celebrate the moments that matter. Whether that’s a first birthday, a 50th, a wedding, a little “just because” treat or a night out decorating cakes with your girlfriends.

I’m so incredibly grateful that this little business has grown into what it is today, and even more grateful to have you here following along. 🩵
