Sitting on a rooftop, sipping cocktails under the warm Bangkok night sky 🍸🍹🌙

Watching the boats slowly glide past Wat Arun while the temple lights shimmer across the river… it felt so peaceful and beautiful.

One of those nights filled with laughter, good vibes and happy moments ✨

Just relaxing, enjoying the view, the music and the magic of Bangkok at night 😌💜

I guess I really miss Bangkok now 😉✨

Some nights we have to ask the restaurant guardian spirits for a little favour 😆✨

So one night… I made a little offering. I said, “I’ll dance for you… if you help guide some hungry customers to Indy Thai” 💃👀🍛

And somehow… not long after the dancing started, the restaurant slowly started filling up too 🤣🤣❤️

Getting to Indy Thai is super easy
There’s a train to Balaclava Station, and we’re just a short walk away

Or hop on a tram
Routes 16, 3 and 78 stop really close
Literally just a few steps away (long steps though 🤣🤣🤣)

For Route 96, you can hop off near Luna Park Melbourne and switch to Routes 3 or 16 for a few stops
Or get some steps in and walk, about 15 minutes along the way

Just don’t stop anywhere else first… come straight to Indy Thai 😝😝🙏🏻💖

Driving? No worries
Street parking is free from 5pm
There’s also plenty of parking behind the building

✨ Happy Thai New Year 2026 Songkran Festival 🥳💦

Songkran is the Thai New Year festival, celebrated from 13–15 April.
The most important day is 13 April, which marks the official Thai New Year.

It’s a time for family, respect, and fresh new beginnings ✨
People visit temples, make merit, and gently pour water over elders’ hands to receive blessings for the year ahead.

But… it’s also Thailand’s biggest and most fun water festival! 💦😆
People splash water, play with water guns, and even put white powder (din sor pong) on each other’s faces.

Every year, people from all around the world come to join the fun, especially in cities like Bangkok, Phuket, Chonburi, and Chiang Mai 🎉
But honestly… the celebration happens all across Thailand, in every province!

It’s the perfect way to cool down in the hot season, laugh, and enjoy the moment together 🌞💦

So yes…

Today we joined a Street Walk Audit organised by the City of Port Phillip Council, together with local police and community members.

The walk is part of an effort to improve safety in our neighbourhood, including plans for more CCTV cameras along Chapel Street and around the Carlisle Street area.

Like many local businesses, we have been facing ongoing challenges in the area — street cleanliness, drug issues, shop theft, intimidation from people struggling with mental health, and difficulties related to homelessness. Recently we have also started seeing groups of teenagers coming into shops asking for food, drinks, or money. These are things that need attention early, before they turn into bigger problems.

Having CCTV will help create a safer environment for everyone and also provide evidence so police can respond more effectively when needed.

A gentle reminder for our lovely dog owners in the area — we love animals and we really love dogs. But please remember to pick up after your dog when walking around the neighbourhood. Let’s help keep our streets clean for everyone.

We would like to sincerely thank everyone who is working hard to support our community.
A special thank you to Jeremy from Carlisle Street and his team, who have been helping coordinate support for local businesses and residents.

We are also very grateful to Councillor Libby Buckingham and her team from the Balaclava Ward for their ongoing support and care for the community.

There were honestly many times we felt like giving up and leaving this area. Running a small restaurant is not always easy. But meeting Jeremy, Libby and their teams reminded us that people still care about this community.

We truly hope our neighbourhood continues to grow stronger, and that Indy Thai can stay here as part of this community we love so much.

We gently tap the plate and say “Só! Só!” with the face and energy of someone who just found something super yummmmm! 😆

(Thai people are just happy and playful like that) 🤭💖

“Só!” basically means soooo delicious! 😁

If you ever visit Thailand, try it when you find something tasty.
Or if you come to Indy Thai, you can say “Só!” too if you love the food. 😋✨💖

Did you know our Indy Crispy Chicken is gluten free? 🥳

We marinate the chicken with Thai herbs for 24–48 hours, letting all the flavours slowly soak in. Then it’s fried fresh to order, so every serve comes out crispy on the outside and juicy inside.

It comes with Indy Thai sweet chilli sauce, which is gluten free too.

Because we fry it fresh for every order, it takes about 10–15 minutes. But trust us… it’s worth the wait. 🔥

This is Khanom Jeen Nam Ya (Tuna Fish Curry with Rice Noodles), lovingly made by Sandy’s mum for family 🥰🙏🏻

Khanom Jeen is soft fermented rice noodles served with a rich, fragrant Thai curry sauce made with tuna and blended herbs and spices 🌿🔥
It’s usually enjoyed with lots of fresh vegetables and herbs on the side 🥬🌱
Medium spicy, full of flavour, and so comforting. One plate is never enough 😋✨
