Five greyhounds were killed by an on-track industry vet after being forced to race in March.

Winckie Bale (pictured) was left stranded on the track with a broken leg and later killed by the on-track industry vet after the race.

An additional nine greyhounds later showed up on the database as "Retired (deceased)" after suffering racing injuries.

The youngest to die was 20 months old. The oldest 33 months. Imagine your life cut so short because people want to make money from exploiting you ...

Shut the race down! Now!

It was an awful end to 2025 with 15 greyhounds killed racing in November and 17 in December. 19 of the greyhounds were killed at the track. 13 were injured racing and taken off the tracks only to be killed in the days following their injury.

The first image shows a greyhound named Brunswick Rocks. He was 19 months old, and had been racing for less than a month, when he was killed by an on-track industry vet after falling during a race at The Q in QLD.

The second image is of a grey named Steely Shiraz, who collided with another dog before falling on his back, fracturing his leg. He too was killed shortly after by the on-track industry vet. This happened on a race track in Victoria - one of the deadliest states on the continent.

Every day CPG volunteers read the awful details of this suffering, view distressing video footage and bear witness. It makes them angry and it breaks their hearts. They do it so that the community knows the truth about the racing industry and the suffering they inflict every day on wonderful, vulnerable greyhounds.

These dogs didn’t have a choice. Every entry is a deliberate decision by trainers putting profit over welfare supported by a the industry that rewards exploitation. We see it. We know it. And we will hold them accountable.

The image shows Travis’s Scrub falling at The Q, Queensland’s deathtrap for greyhounds. He somersaults along the track and lies stricken in the sand and is killed by the on-track industry vet soon after. 💔

In addition to the 12 greyhounds in May who lost their lives after being forced to race, at least a further seven greyhounds who were injured racing are now listed as “deceased” in the industry databases. All these greyhounds were reported as being given a 90 day stand-down period. None were deemed worthy of rehabilitation.

THANK YOU for everything you brought in our lives!

All the mess that makes us laughing today, all the joy that makes us crying today and so many cuddles until the last moment. There is nothing I regret
It has been a honour to serve as your human since we rescued you.

I know the better it was the more it hurts today. So in a way I am happy to be so sad.

Seeing Bobby kissing your nose while you were crossing the rainbow bridge was heartbreaking but beautiful.

My heart is broken. We just decided it is time for Misty. We will say goodbye this Wednesday during her 19th year. The end of a chapter! So many souvenirs since we rescued her in France. She will meet Picsou who left us a few years ago. Bobby will need support do go through

💔 9 deaths in just one month, with one greyhound being only 16 months old. Another lost his life after being forced to race 120 times.

Another 7 greyhounds were injured whilst racing in April and are now enlisted as "deceased". All of these injuries weren't considered worth fixing, and therefore their lives weren't worth keeping.

If this is what caring about your greys looks like then the industry needs to remind themselves what care truly means.
