Moreish (adjective) — Describing food that has a particularly pleasant taste, making one desire to consume more of it. 🤤

I don’t think a word more adequately describes what we aim to achieve when we cater for clients. We take pride and care in all our dishes produced and never compromise on a product, instead, we often ask what we can do to make this better. How can we best represent ourselves and the products we are so lucky to work with?

🥬 We feel so lucky to have fresh and seasonal produce. There’s something special about knowing exactly where your food comes from and who’s behind it. Today’s veggie basket from the farm is bursting with colour and goodness. Every item was handpicked by today and you can taste the care that goes into growing the produce. It’s a small reminder of how important local connections are when it comes to eating well and living mindfully.

Can’t wait to get creative in the kitchen tomorrow night with this produce. We had the nicest afternoon visiting the farm, walking around the animals, and soaking in the fresh air. Big appreciation to our local farmers. Your work matters and we appreciate it. Let’s keep supporting locals and choosing seasonal whenever we can.

Appreciating Our Community 🫶🏼

Each week, we want to pause and spotlight the incredible individuals within our local community who play a part—directly or indirectly—in shaping what we do here at Umavë.

This first post goes out to someone who is one of the main reason Umavë started. Through his work and what he’s been doing in the community, helped me find a genuine connection to cooking again. A Connection that embodies purpose and success in my life.

Cam Ware of has started to pass on his knowledge and wisdom through breakthrough breathwork sessions. Think visualisation while consciously connecting to the power of your breath.
Truly magical stuff and Umavë would not exist without it!

Banana & rhubarb bread
This banana bread came together from what we had on hand — ripe bananas from the freezer and some beautiful rhubarb from . With the cost of everything going up, we try our best not to waste a thing. It’s also really important to us to know where our food comes from and support the growers behind it. Just a simple, honest recipe with a lot of love in it. Congee has become a comforting staple in our home. A humble base that celebrates versatility and reduces waste. I love using homemade stocks, broths, and reductions to build deep flavour into each pot. This one starts with a nourishing chicken bone broth, miso, and mushroom trimmings.

Topped with foraged mushroom XO, a tea egg with h**p seeds, sautéed corn and Chinese broccoli, and finished with green shallot — it’s a bowl that brings together what’s fresh, foraged, and leftover in the most delicious way.

Simple, thoughtful food. That’s umavë.
