✨ A little note from Alchemy ✨

This is a post I never really wanted to have to write.

This weekend will be our last weekend at Alchemy Brew House.

Alchemy was never meant to be just a café. I wanted to create a little corner of Scarborough that felt different — somewhere you could come for good food, stay for a chat, listen to music, play a game, meet someone new, or just sit for a while and feel at home.

And somehow, this funny little witchy place became exactly that.

We’ve cooked recipes handed down through generations, hosted beautiful dinners, music, readings, celebrations and plenty of wonderfully weird little moments. We’ve laughed a lot, occasionally caused some chaos, and met some truly incredible people along the way.

Unfortunately, the realities of running a small hospitality business have caught up with us, and I’ve had to make the incredibly difficult decision to close our doors.

I’m heartbroken, but I’m also incredibly proud of what we created here.

Most of all, I’m grateful.

To everyone who walked through our doors, brought their friends, came to our events, ordered another coffee, shared our posts, told someone about us, or simply sat at one of our tables — thank you.

You made Alchemy what it was.

So this weekend, we’d love to see your faces one last time. Come have a coffee, eat something made with love, have a drink, give us some s**t, and help us send this strange little place out the way it deserves.

No disappearing quietly.

At Alchemy, we cook the way our grandmothers did. 🤎

With recipes passed down through generations.
With hands that have made the same dishes a thousand times.
With instinct, experience, a little bit of magic — and a whole lot of love.

We believe food should be made from real ingredients, in their purest form. Butter. Eggs. Flour. Herbs. Vegetables. Meat slowly cooked until it falls apart. Things you recognise. Things your grandmother would recognise.

Because we believe food should be ingredients — not have ingredients.

No long lists of things you can’t pronounce. No shortcuts where they don’t belong. Just honest food, made from scratch, using recipes and techniques that have fed families for generations.

There’s something special about food made this way. It carries stories. Memories. Culture. The hands of the women who taught us. The meals that gathered everyone around the table.

That’s the kind of food we want to make at Alchemy.

A little old-fashioned.
A little magical.
And made with love. 🌿✨
