We make most of our ingredients from scratch such as Rice Koji, Miso, Salt Koji, Amazake and Okara. TORI’S NEST is a team set up by Japanese mums who all have different background. We believe that changing how and what we cook and eat is one way to reduce our environmental footprint and improve our health. We cook food made with feeling to share our love of Japanese food with people visiting our n

est. Chie is the main cook, who is passionate about nature and wildlife. She worked and volunteered for 5 years for wildlife conservation NGOs and a local parks and wildlife agency in Japan. Her passion for wildlife brought her to Tasmania where she completed a post-graduate Master's degree in Environmental Studies at UTAS – studying the endangered Forty-spotted pardalote. Aki is a qualified massage and Tok Sen Therapist (http;//akiuk9.wixsite.com/website-1) and interested in Herbal remedy. Yuka loves cooking and eating Japanese food. She provides a very good customer service with her warm hospitality. Chisato is a mum of a baby Hana. She completed a post-graduate Master’s degree in commence at Swinburn University and Master’s degree in Business administration at UTAS. Yuki is passionate about homemade cooking and making miso, tofu and natto at home for her family.

Thank you very much to everyone who came to Christmas dinner on Saturday💕. We are so happy to hear lots of wonderful feedback🙏. It was a successful night, and all of our staff had an enjoyable time working together as a good team😆.

My friend, Tomoko, makes beautiful flames, cards, and home decorations using her own pressed flowers🌺. They are dried by hand but keep their lovely colours. She also does calligraphy. I love her handwriting and want her to create TORI’S NEST logo together with me, so we did😊.

She is helping us to set the table to make the Christmas dinner a bit more special🎄. A few tickets are still available via Humanitix. Please check out our event page.

We were asked by the person organising the community group in Cygnet to do Miso and Tofu workshops, so Aki and I delivered a miso workshop on 21st November in Cygnet.
Cygnet is only an hour from my home, but I have visited there only a few times in the last 20 years. I love the pretty little town full of arts and crafts✨🖼️ and surrounded by farms and nature💕. Everyone who came to the workshop was very enthusiastic to know about miso and its ingredients and asked lots of questions. Aki and I both had a great time and were very glad to receive wonderful feedback from the participants😆😆.

We organise workshops at Source only a few times a year, as it requires lots of work. We feel sorry for the people on the wait list who couldn’t get into the workshop. If you have a group of people interested in attending the workshop, please feel free to contact us. We can discuss the details to make it suitable for your needs🙏.
