We put all the rams through the box ahead of shearing this week, taking the opportunity to draft a few of the higher-indexing rams aside for a closer look.

We found a solid line-up of rams that are not only carrying strong, balanced indexes across the key areas, but have also stood up well through a very wet winter - running as sheep should, in a mob of 300, and facing the season without special treatment. They are strong, fit and sound, and we’re pleased with the way they have stood up to the testing conditions this year.

Videos of the rams straight out of the box, still in the wool, are now available on the website. Lotting and final videos following shearing will be completed over the next couple of weeks.

As MLA continues to roll out its new Combined Lambplan benchmarking analysis, we’re following the development closely. So far, the reports have given us further confirmation that our genetics are not only holding up against other terminal programs, but are also performing strongly when benchmarked across the broader maternal meat breeds.

For us, the goal is still the same - to keep breeding sheep that are commercially relevant, physically sound and backed by predictable genetics that are relevant to prime lamb producers.

Very impressed with the commitment of travel to come and learn today, we had interstate guests whom put in better part of 10hrs travel to get here - outstanding commitment to their own learning. Like I said, highly reccomend getting in these rooms. It’s hard not to get inspired!

The White Suffolk over a Merino ewe has long been one of the most versatile and profitable sheep models available.
