The Saffron Kitchen & Cafe Specialising in Quality Saffron infused products Our Story:

Capertee Valley is located 200km northwest Sydney, on the way to Mudgee.

We bought a 100acre property in Glen Davis in 2009, which was not quite enough room for cattle. We wanted to do something a little different and came across Saffron and that is where the journey began. The first year we planted 70 bulbs as a trial and were pleasently surprised how well they grow. The harvest season is April/May usually a total of 6 weeks, 6 very long weeks where the flowers need t

o be picked daily by hand. The first year harvest was quite small with only 70 bulbs, so we then put our creative hats on and started experimenting with Saffron infused products. We started off with the basics, some confectionary and jams which then lead us to our Dessert syrup, with only sweet products on the menu and many customers unable to sample because of health reasons or only having a savoury palate it became clear that we needed to expand on our products to cater for all palates. This is when we developed our Saffron Caramelised White Wine Vinager and our Saffron Spiced Nuts. Fast forward to 2023, our family has grown and changed and our business direction needed to shift in order to expand and work with family life. While we no longer grow Saffron, we showcase all our delicious products at our popular foodie paradise The Saffron Kitchen and Cafe in Rylstone. Well worth the visit on your next escape to the Central West, we look forward to welcoming you with our delicious menu and the best coffee in town.
