We’re copping it from the bad boys of the sky at the moment…Wedge-tailed eagles and Sea Eagles 🦅

Apparently our paddock has been added to the local eagle dining guide as an all-you-can-eat buffet… and they seem to keep inviting their friends.

We’re doing everything we can to keep the girls safe. Our Maremmas do a fantastic job watching over the flock, but unfortunately the adventurous hens who decide the grass is greener on the other side of their fenced area make themselves very easy targets.

The chicken in the photo was one of the lucky ones. I managed to get to her just in time before she became their next meal!

It’s one of the harder parts of raising hens out on pasture. We want them outside, roaming, scratching and foraging—but sharing the farm with wildlife definitely comes with its challenges.

So… calling all farmers and chicken keepers! If you’ve found a good, humane way of discouraging these very persistent feathered visitors, we’re all ears!

Preferably something that lets the eagles continue being eagles… just somewhere other than directly above our chickens. 😅

Every time we move the chickens’ electric fence onto a fresh paddock, these two seem to think it’s also time for a little adventure. 🤦‍♀️

And anyone who owns a Maremma knows there are only two ways they’re coming home…

Our cattle are raised right here on the banks of the pristine Baffle Creek at Rosedale, QLD, where they spend their lives grazing pasture.

Approx. 20–25kg | Around 1/8 of a cow
A selection from across the animal including premium steaks, roasts, slow-cook cuts, brisket, ribs, mince, sausages and more.

🐄 Bulk Beef — $17/kg dressed weight
Available as 1/4, 1/2 or whole cow.
