G'day Loves!
Happy Friday!
This weekend in Robertstown there is a major motorcycle event on.
The Lew Job 2 Day Reliability Trial.
There's more about the event below but I wanted to acknowledge how this event provides a major fund raising boost for the local netball & footy clubs oval canteen.
Their famous Mutton Rolls are legendary!
Another small business is open in Robertstown this year. Old Store 17. The barista coffee is the best in the Mid-North with snack options available in a quaint cafe setting, it is a must see how the owner has transformed a derelict building into what it is today.
With the economy, fuel prices and our desire to support these local Legends mentioned above, we have decided not to trade on the weekend but will be open from 7am Monday morning for
Coffee, tea, ham & cheese croissants, our scones with jam & cream.
Harry & I will be wandering over backwards & forwards eating Mutton Rolls all weekend so send us a message if you'd like to walk the gardens on Sunday.
We have lots of low acid cherry tomatoes we'd love you to self harvest.
We hope you have a safe & happy long weekend.
Andrew & Harry
Affectionately nicknamed "The Robbie 2-Day," this iconic event is organized by the Velocette Motorcycle Club and serves as a key round of the South Australian Reliability Trials (SART) Championship.Key Elements of the EventThe Format: It is a 2-day endurance test where riders must navigate a grueling course. Day 1 typically features a day/night format, forcing riders to compete in the dark, while Day 2 is daylight-only.True Reliability: Both solo motorcycles and sidecars compete. The main objective is simply to finish. Riders must carry all of their own tools and spare parts from the start, making machine preparation crucial. The Course: The track spans roughly 95 kilometers through an arid landscape filled with deep ruts, mallee holes, and a fast, fan-favorite section through Spring Hut Creek. The Hub: The start and finish lines are stationed at the Robertstown Oval, with local traditions including major community trackside catering (famous for its mutton and gravy rolls) and social gatherings sponsored by the Robertstown Hotel.
