My Brother, Wayne
Some people leave their mark with words,
Others with wealth or fame.
But the greatest mark I’ve ever known
Is simply the man called Wayne.
Your strength has never been about muscles,
Or pretending you’re never afraid.
It’s been in the way you’ve stood back up,
No matter what life has laid.
You’ve faced the storms with quiet courage,
Never asking for applause.
Showing all of us what resilience is,
Simply because that’s who you are.
You’ve always had a heart that’s generous,
A smile that could lift the day,
And whether on the bowling green or at home,
You’d somehow make everything okay.
You’ve taught me that true strength is kindness,
That laughter can heal a soul,
That family is life’s greatest blessing,
And love is what makes us whole.
I’m proud to call you my brother.
Proud of the man you’ve always been.
Strong, loyal, honest and caring,
The finest I’ve ever seen.
No matter where life takes us,
One thing will always stay true:
When people speak of strength and courage,
I’ll always think of you.
It is with great sadness that I share the passing of my big brother Wayne. At 1:20am this morning he took his last breath with his wife Kathy by his side.
He truly left his mark especially in the world of Facebook, having been in Facebook Jail more times than I can count, with his strong opinions. But that was him, you always knew where you stood with him.
I am so blessed that I got to spend some quality time with him a few weeks ago. It was a bitter sweet visit, knowing that it would most probably be the last time I got to physically see and hold him, but it is a visit I will cherish forever.
He promised me he will come and visit me and I cannot wait until he does. Harold Joe Hopkinson you fought a good fight but that fu***ng cancer won in the end but the prize was being able to call you my brother.
I love you bloke and I promise I will take good care of your guitar and one day play “Tears in Heaven” for you.
Your little sister, Megie Tom. 🧡🧡🧡
