A little behind-the-scenes story for those who may be new hereโฆ
Italy at Home was born in 2024, but the idea actually started on a family holiday to Venice.
Picture thisโฆ Nick and I sitting on the banks of Venice, espresso martinis in hand, after spending the day wandering through Murano admiring the incredible hand-blown glass creations. Alongside us were Sam, Bessie, Mum & Poppy offered to have the kids the day so we could explore the glass creations without worrying about little mitts.. we shared laughs, stories and plenty of Italian food and drinks as we soaked up everything Italy had to offer here..
The creativity, passion and craftsmanship we saw everywhere completely lit a spark in me.
For the first time in a long time, I felt inspired. The creative juices were flowing, my passion came alive again, and somewhere between the canals, the food, the aperitivos and the dream-filled conversations, Italy at Home was born.
Fast forward to today, and honestlyโฆ these numbers blow my mind. โค๏ธ
โจ Since opening in late 2024 we have:
๐ Made over 1,200 tray bakes
๐ Packed over 1,000 bags of fresh pasta
๐
Cooked over 5,000 litres of sauce
(seriouslyโฆ I still canโt comprehend that one! ๐๐)
๐จโ๐ฉโ๐ง Grown a community of over 2,000 followers
โญ Received 14 perfect 10/10 reviews
๐ฅ Made over 100 tubs of gnocchi
๐ฐ Created around 500 tubs of tiramisu
๐
Expanded from 6 sauce varieties to 18
โ๏ธ Created over 1,000kg of pasta with semolina, water and eggs!
๐ซถ Crafted more than 1,500 ravioli - over 800 of these were made by hand!
โค๏ธ Been backed by one incredibly supportive family and friendship group
๐ป Had one amazing mum (Nonna Mary) standing beside me every single week, helping make the magic happen
And perhaps the biggest fun fact of allโฆ
โค๏ธ None of this would have been possible without YOU.
Every order, every comment, every share, every recommendation to a friend, every tray bake served around your family table has helped grow this little dream into something so much bigger than I ever imagined.
To my family for being part of the trip where the dream was first spoken about. To Nick for believing in another one of my wild ideas. To Mum for turning up week after week, I wish Nonna Gina and Nonno Aldo could have seen it ๐ฅฒ
