As I closed the doors of The Old Fire Station Cafe Gallery for the last time, I realised that 18 years and a huge chapter in my life had come to an end.

It’s been amazing running the business, not that I did it by myself, I had great support.

And with that in mind, I would like to thank all the staff, past and present, to Erica and my boys and girls, to my grandchildren, and my favourite sister. To my friends and their families, to the musicians, and artists, to my suppliers, and advisors and once again to our customers, and to all those who would stop and enjoy a glass of wine and a chat, I say thank you, it’s been a blast! To the man himself, as your manager/pa - it’s been an absolute pleasure, although there were some trials and tribulations we got through them and you’ve come out on top.

I know you’ve been thinking about retiring for some time and I know it wasn’t an easy decision but it’s the right one.

Although I’m not sure who is going to get your wine and smokes every day, perhaps you … maybe… you could try….

Enjoy your retirement, your music and travels but most of all enjoy spending time with your grandchildren.

You’ll be missed by so many, although I hear there may be something coming up in the not to distance future that will bring everyone back together if only for an evening of great music, hopefully you’ll include snippets of the album, because they are fantastic, and it’s time to share…
