BREAKFAST (An update to our opening hours) As the mornings get colder and getting out of bed becomes a little harder, we’ve decided to pause weekday breakfasts for winter.

Breakfast will now be served from 8am on weekends only, while we’ll continue opening from 12pm on weekdays for lunch and dinner.

If your morning ritual still calls for a coffee and pastry, Le Petit Marché next door will be open as usual, with the Greville Street terrasse waiting for you.

And so here we are …the second last reading from my book, with just one week to go before it officially launches.

What an extraordinary joy it has been to have dear friends and mentors each week bring to life a little chapter that in some way belongs to them. Thank you so very much .pausewang - your love and support mean more to me than words can say.

And now, to , reading a chapter that HE himself wrote for the book…. which feels so wonderfully full circle. Thankyou bub.

I feel incredibly blessed to be surrounded by remarkable people who continue to lift me up, guide me, and say yes to the magic and “crazy” in equal parts. To for always pointing me in the right direction, to for your beautiful talent with filming, and to for forever saying yes to my wild ideas - thank you CC.

Next week I celebrate MY 50th birthday, Entrecôte’s 10th birthday, and the LAUNCH of my book.

What a week it is going to be.
A celebration of life, of friendship, of a decade of Entrecôte, and of a dream finally coming into the world.

Yesterday, our beautiful Brasserie had a little refresh as we ready ourselves for next Thursday’s book launch - Entrecôte, Depuis 2015

A few new eclectic artworks from my own collection have found their place on the walls, and perhaps most special of all, the original sign from my very first restaurant now hangs proudly in the room. It was discovered last year at a bric-à-brac by a dear friend who simply had a feeling it ‘might’ have something to do with me … 32 years later. I even hand painted this sign!!!

I was just 17 years old when I opened in 1994: Jason’s Garden Restaurant & Tearooms. One pic here is back when we open the restaurant with my beautiful Grandmother, Aggie ‘cutting’ the ribbon - it was the 90s remember!!! you can see the sign there in the background!!!

How extraordinary to see that piece of my beginning now sitting within the walls of Entrecôte.

It’s all part of the story.

And in my heart, I know that as we celebrate 10 years of Entrecôte, this will be the last restaurant I ever open - yes, you heard it here first, folks.

After opening more than 30 venues across 39 years in hospitality, I’m so excited to pour my heart and energy into my biggest baby, Entrecôte, for the next decade, with an incredible team and my wonderful partner beside me.

So next week, we celebrate my 50th trip around the sun, 10 years of Entrecôte, and of course the launch of my beautiful book, Entrecôte, Depuis 2015.

Yesterday, our beautiful Brasserie had a little refresh as we ready ourselves for next Thursday’s book launch - Entrecôte, Depuis 2015

Just two weeks until my book launch ❤️

How lucky am I to have had the Dame drop in to read a wonderfully mischievous chapter from the book.

Of course, the story behind the Dame is that her alter ego, Barry Humphries, was somewhat of a regular at Entrecôte — a true Melbourne icon woven into our own story. Here, my dear friend, the incredibly talented Kyle Minall (as the Dame..), fondly recalls the old toilets in our Domain Road maison and the infamous Lynch’s restaurant with their NO children policy that sat proudly on that very corner for more than 30 years. Now that is longevity …. and if we could one day say the same, we would be absolutely beside ourselves.

This book is so much more than a cookbook. It is a personal collection of stories: my upbringing in the world of hospitality, of how Entrecôte came to life, and why I have always believed restaurants are far more than places to dine - they are part of the heartbeat of our community and the very fabric of Melbourne itself. There are moments in life, and in business, that feel like turning a page (hint, my book Entrecôte, Depuis 2015 hits the shelves in three weeks.. hehe!

As Entrecôte moves towards ten years .. ten extraordinary, challenging and beautiful years - i find myself reflecting on just how much of this story has always been about people. The people who believed in my stupid idea of originally just opening a ‘pop up’ doin one dish, who stood beside me, who poured their heart into every service, every plate, every guest experience.

And now, as we begin this next chapter, our next DECADE .. it gives me enormous joy to welcome two remarkable people to our maison - Carlo Grossi and Henry Salt.

My dear friend Carlo joins us as General Manager, bringing with him a depth of hospitality experience that is truly exceptional. There is a warmth, an elegance and an instinctive understanding of service that Carlo embodies so effortlessly - the kind of hospitality that makes people feel not just looked after, but genuinely welcomed.

And then there is Henry.

A young talent in the kitchen, with such precision, restraint and respect for produce. His approach to food feels deeply aligned with everything I have always wanted Entrecôte to be - soulful, generous, refined and always centred around the table.

As we step into our tenth year, I could not be more excited for what is to come.

To Carlo and Henry - bienvenue. I am so proud to have you both become part of our story.

The next chapter begins here, and I truly believe it is going to be something very special. Mr Jones x

THREE WEEKS TIL LAUNCH!

Well, I can only say wonderful things, can’t I, about this incredible woman … my mother-in-law, Sushila.

The family joke is that when Brem told his parents I was a chef and we were meeting for the very first time, she said, “tell him to make dessert. I never said I was a pastry chef?!!!

So of course, I made the only dessert I knew how to make - my Nan’s FAMOUS golden syrup dumplings. You know the kind… those post-war STODGY FLOURY dumplings with ‘caramel’ sauce so many of us grew up with.

I arrived with my Le Creuset pot in hand, served them up, and thought they were absolutely fabulous…

They thought they were BLOODY AWFUL.

A lot of water has gone under the bridge since then, and thankfully she still loves me.

Here she is reading a chapter from my book, a passage about how every brushstroke matters in this beautiful, demanding and endlessly rewarding world of hospitality.

Because in the end, it is never just about what is on the plate - it is about every gesture, every detail, every moment of care that shapes the experience and the story we leave behind. We’re OPEN all Easter long weekend 🐰 from Good Friday through to Easter Monday, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner ‘service-continu’. Whether you’re joining us for a slow morning, a long lunch or dinner or a nightcap, our maître’d is ready.

For Easter Sunday lunch, we’ll be serving an Easter Family Feast for $95 per person + 15% public holiday surcharge. A generous menu of French touches and shared favourites, from baguette, butter and baked brie to roast chicken with thyme jus, proper sides and chocolate mousse with crème Chantilly to finish.
