***Important Announcement***
Dear customer friends,
This is Nathan Teo again, the Previous owner of Cafe Myriade (June 2011- October 2016). With a heavy heart, I am here to let you know that Cafe Myriade is now permanently closed due to current owner's personal reason.
Here's a long version of my 'reflect and thank you', for the shorter version, please skip all the way to the last paragraph.
I must say it's been a great ride with you all since we started. Without your constant support, we (the old crew 2011-2016) wouldn't have had a chance to experience how it's like to run a board game cafe in Perth which was rather well received given how Perth population is a lot less dense than the places where the board game cafes around the world are located.
I still remember one Friday night 4 years ago, 2 ladies decided to drop by at around 10pm to take a look at what we do. They planned to stay for perhaps half an hour to an hour and continue on with their journey to local clubs at around 11pm. In the end, they stayed with us till 1am (yes we used to keep the cafe open till 2am on the weekends when we first started). Before they left, they made an unforgettable comment: 'You know what, we were gonna go clubbing at around midnight. We found this place and thought, it's still early, why not have a quick stop and check this place out first? And oh my goodness we were hooked by the games straightaway, this place is so much better, and cheaper than clubbing! We enjoyed everything so much and we will definitely be back!'
This was probably one of the most memorable feedback we have heard since we started this project. We hoped to provide an alternative entertainment and activities in the midst of pubs and bars in Northbridge. We knew, after that night, we did it.
There are plenty more examples and many amazing people we have met along the way who have motivated us to continue to work hard. They were also the reasons why we managed to run the place for a good 5+ years.
We are so glad to have known you all, many of us have become friends with customers during the time when we ran the cafe. We truly treasure the memories and friendships this cafe had given us. We look forward to visiting the new board game cafe in Perth - if someone will do it again - in the future and enjoy to experience everything as a customer. :)
We will post a list of left over games we have salvaged from the scene once it's finalized, for those who may be interested to buy.
