⚠️ SERIOUS INCIDENT AT ATWELL PIZZA AND PASTA — PLEASE READ
I feel it is important to bring attention to what happened at Atwell Pizza and Pasta today, because this behaviour was completely unacceptable and extremely concerning.
A man entered the business and began punching the counter directly in front of a 16-year-old girl, while aggressively shouting in her face. This is incredibly intimidating and frightening behaviour, particularly towards a young person who should never have to feel unsafe simply while doing her job.
He ordered a pickup but was expecting a delivery, This is completely his fault for misunderstanding this situation as he seemed drunk.
When the owner came to address the situation, the man continued to swear at and verbally abuse him relentlessly. The owner attempted to de-escalate the situation, even refunding the man’s money and repeatedly asking him to leave the premises. Despite being asked multiple times, the man continued his aggressive behaviour and refused to leave.
It was only after another woman in the business spoke up and called out his behaviour and the way he was abusing the business that he eventually left.
This is not simply a case of someone being unhappy with their food or having a disagreement. Punching a counter, aggressively confronting a teenage employee, screaming in someone’s face, and continuously verbally abusing a business owner is threatening and completely unacceptable.
No worker — especially a 16-year-old girl — should have to experience this while simply trying to do their job. Business owners and employees deserve to feel safe in their own workplace.
I hope this incident is taken seriously. If anyone witnessed what happened or has any relevant information, please consider coming forward to the business or the appropriate authorities.
