We have some exciting news to share…

Mellowed Out Greek Takeaway has officially been named a Finalist in the 2026 Northern Territory Local Business Awards! 🏆🇬🇷

Although our doors are temporarily closed while we search for the perfect new location, this recognition means the world to us. Knowing that our amazing customers took the time to nominate and vote for us is something we’ll never take for granted.

From our very first yiros to our last seafood boil, every order, every conversation and every smile helped make Mellowed Out what it became. This nomination belongs just as much to our incredible community as it does to us.

We’re working behind the scenes and can’t wait to return bigger and better when the right location comes along.

Thank you for believing in us, supporting a local family business and standing by us through every chapter. We truly couldn’t have done it without you. ❤️

Please keep your fingers crossed for us as we head into the awards. No matter the outcome, we’re already winners because of the community we’ve built.

Mellow Fam… where do we even begin 💙

We are truly so humbled by the incredible support you’ve all shown us. To everyone who came to farewell us, called, messaged, shared posts, and brought your friends and family in for one last hoorah! thank you from the bottom of our hearts. We appreciate every single one of you more than words can explain.

These last couple of nights have been absolutely crazy… but in the best possible way. You all waited through the long wait times, shared laughs with us, reminisced on memories, and had heartfelt conversations about the next chapter ahead. The love in our little shop has been overwhelming.

And let us tell you something… we WILL be back. We promise you that.

For now, while we close the doors to Mellowed Out in Gray tonight, it’s definitely not goodbye, just see you later. This decision wasn’t easy, but it was something that needed to happen. We gave it everything we had, and none of it would have been possible without you all standing beside us every step of the way.

In the meantime, we’ll still be doing our catering for food and cakes, so you haven’t gotten rid of us completely yet 😉 Bigger and better things are coming, and we’re excited for what’s ahead.

What we’ll miss most are the connections we’ve built. So many of you started as customers and became family. That’s something we’ll carry with us forever.

Mellow Fam ❤️

Tonight is our very last night of trade before we close our doors.

To say this is emotional would be an understatement. What started as a dream turned into something so much bigger because of every single one of you. From the late-night yiros runs, seafood boils, coffees, desserts, laughs, chats at the counter and all the support through the highs and lows… you became family. Our Mellow Fam.

We’ve poured our hearts into this little shop. We’ve celebrated milestones together, watched families grow, met the most incredible people and created memories we’ll carry forever. The love you’ve shown us over the years is something we could never fully put into words.

So tonight, we’d love to see as many familiar faces as possible one last time before we close our doors and take a long break. Come grab your favourite meal, share a laugh with us, and help us end this chapter surrounded by the people who made it so special.

This isn’t goodbye forever… it’s simply “see you later.” ❤️

Mellow fam 💔

This is one of the hardest posts we’ve ever had to make… but after a lot of thought, emotion, stress, and sleepless nights, we have made the heartbreaking decision that Mellowed Out Greek Take-Away will be closing its doors this Saturday.

What started as a dream between our family turned into something so much bigger. From marshmallows at local markets, to building a little Greek takeaway filled with food, laughter, chaos, culture, and love… you all became part of our journey.

To every single person who supported us, whether you ordered once, shared a post, came every week, brought your families in, trusted us to cater your events, or simply cheered us on… thank you. Truly.

Unfortunately, the ongoing antisocial behaviour in the area and the harassment we endure on a daily basis has taken a huge toll on us, our staff, and our family. We have tried so hard to push through it, stay positive, and continue serving our community, but it has reached a point where we no longer feel safe.

This decision was not made lightly. We are absolutely devastated. We poured our hearts into Mellowed Out. Every late night, every early morning, every seafood boil, every yiros, every dessert, every crazy idea… it was all done with love.

This little shop gave us memories we’ll hold onto forever. We watched strangers become regulars, and regulars become family. The support from our community has meant more than words could ever explain.

To the beautiful customers who stood by us through everything, thank you for making us feel seen, appreciated, and loved during some incredibly hard times.

BUT… this is not goodbye. It’s simply a see you later ❤️

We will absolutely be on the lookout for a new location (of course somewhere in Palmerston 😉), but for now we’ll be taking a loooong break to rest, reset, and spend time with our family.

We would love to see our Mellow fam one last time before we close our doors this Saturday. Come in, grab your favourites, have a chat, share a memory, and let us thank you properly. ❤️

Mellow fam,

We wanted to share something that’s been weighing heavily on us.

Over the past little while, we’ve been facing ongoing antisocial behaviour around our store, and it’s started to take a toll. As much as we love what we do, we’ve reached a point where we don’t always feel safe and neither do our staff. (Staff that we can never hold onto because of this)

This is incredibly hard for us to even say, because Mellowed Out has always been about bringing good food, good vibes, and something positive to our community. We’ve always tried to stay hopeful, look at the bright side, and push through the tough moments.

But lately, it’s been really challenging… and we’re feeling it.

We’re not making any final decisions just yet, but we did want to be open with our Mellow fam about what’s been going on behind the scenes.

If you’ve ever enjoyed a meal with us, shared a laugh, or felt part of what we’re building! your support right now, in any way, truly means the world to us. Even just stopping by, sharing a kind word, or showing a bit of love can go a long way.
