FLOW LIVE MUSIC - MOVING TOWARD FULL SUSPENSION / CANCELLATION….!!
After 12 years of continuous live music every weekend, we have to make the very heart wrenching decision to suspend some of our free entry future music bookings moving forward. We will honour some bookings we’ve already made and cancel some to reduce our forward bookings for sessions that are no longer financially viable. We will continue to try and book feature artists for ticketed gigs but unfortunately it is no longer financially viable to continue with the free entry gigs. We have exhausted our available savings and increased our mortgages over the years post COVID trying to keep the dream alive but at 57 years old, I can’t keep chasing a dream in an industry that is not actively supported by Government etc… unfortunately they are only interested in hospitality businesses with Pokies because they create massive government revenue… taking the moral high ground and attempting to have a pure play live music venue supporting Australian Singer Songwriters is just not viable under current economic conditions. Governments pretend to try but the reality is that they were too late to the party to rescue an industry they had already brought to its knees for both artists and venues.
To the community regulars who have tried their utmost to attend regularly and support the artists, thank you. To the 100’s of Artists who have graced our stage even when having to tone down their volume to comply with strict noise restrictions, thank you.
You will all always hold a special place in our hearts for trying to help me achieve my dream, those who have chatted with me over the years, know my passion for music and giving artists a go to develop their craft.
I would often stand at the entrance as punters were leaving a gig, and they were always smiling and grateful, live music always brought out the joy in people, those happy punters faces & compliments are etched in my memory forever.
I sincerely hope we can ride out this current disaster of an economy but without courageous politicians (Local, State & Federal) and an RBA Board that actually realises that Australia is made up of both City & Regional economic zones that behave very differently, small family businesses are destined to struggle.
