⚠️ A WARNING TO OTHER LOCAL TAKEAWAY AND DELIVERY BUSINESSES ⚠️
Tonight, we received a $110 delivery order containing several pizzas, including food prepared for specific gluten-free and dairy-free requirements.
When our driver arrived, the customer claimed they had been waiting for two hours and refused to accept or pay for the order. Our recorded timeline shows that approximately one hour had passed between the order being placed and the delivery arriving — not two hours.
We understand that customers may be unhappy about waiting, and we are always prepared to discuss a delay and find a reasonable solution. What is not acceptable is allowing a small business to prepare an entire $110 order, send a driver to the address, and then refusing everything at the door based on an exaggerated waiting time.
All of the pizzas had to be brought back. Once food has left our premises, it cannot be resold, so the ingredients, staff time, electricity and delivery costs were completely wasted.
Some people may think, “It’s only pizza,” but this is a real financial loss for a small family business. Independent businesses cannot simply absorb losses like this. If everybody treated small businesses this way, people should not expect local, family-run businesses to continue surviving.
The customer’s details and delivery address have been recorded, and we will not accept any future orders from this household without full prepayment.
We are also warning other local takeaway and delivery businesses to be careful with large unpaid delivery orders. Local business owners who have experienced a similar incident may contact us privately.
Please remember that behind every small business are real people working hard, paying staff and trying to support their families. If you change your mind, call before the food is prepared — not when the driver arrives at your door.
