I’ve been a proud owner of my local pizzeria here in Oakleigh for nine years now, and it breaks my heart to see the changes happening in our neighborhood. Once a peaceful, safe haven, especially at the local mall where people gathered for coffee, I now find myself deeply worried. There are constant car break-ins, smashed shop windows, and petty theft. And just last night, we had a devastating stabbing in the mall—something that was always so safe for us.
I’m really upset and disappointed. It seems like a group of young gangs are taking advantage of our area. I rarely see any police presence, especially late at night. I know there are staffing shortages, but something has to change. We need more patrols, more visibility, and more care for our community. Let’s come together, speak up, and push for real action to bring back the safety we once knew.
Stay safe,
