It is with a heavy heart that we announce the closure of Brood Coffee Co-Op at Pleasant Way - this Sunday morning at 11am.

Due to ongoing health issues we feel that this is the right time.

We thank you all for coming in, grabbing a coffee or tea, having a chat and enjoying your time with us. This is not the end of Brood Coffee. We're viewing this as a temporary closure to get back on track. We're not sure what our continued journey may look like at this point but keep your eyes peeled!

Thank you to Mark and Cath from Tea Journeys and Pleasant Way River Motel for the wonderful opportunity and their continued support.

We just wanted to show and explain why we decided to close today.

A few years ago, Nathan was diagnosed with functional neurological symptom disorder (FND). As well as this, 2.5 years ago he suffered from a neck injury which left him with bone on bone impingement of his spinal cord. He lost the use of his left arm for some time and had to leave his job. He experienced incredible pain and return of symptoms with increased physical activity. Brood is his first "job" since the initial injury. To fix the issue, in February just gone, he had a spinal fusion of his cervical spine. Since surgery he has severe migraines from the cage in his neck which can last several days and include severe light sensitivity and neck and head pain. He got one of these migraines last week.

The posted video is a small snippet of an FND episode Nathan had yesterday. His tremors, spasms and stiffness extend to his legs, cause a lot of pain and make it difficult to, or prevent him from walking. Yesterday's episode exacerbated the migraine so, taking today off was important for his physical and mental health.

To add to this, he also has suspected Fibromyalgia so experiences a level of unexplained pain on a regular basis.

As mentioned earlier, we appreciate your understanding and look to be back on track ASAP! 🙏🏼💜

Unfortunately bills don't pay themselves so, after spending a few days in newborn bliss, Nathan will be back slinging brews tomorrow. Come on down and show us some love! 💜
